I understand that many posters would like to see us win 3-5 games and get a top 5 pick. Of course, they would like to see lots of progress on the Offense, the Ol, QB and WR. They want to dump or trade Judon and Godchaux. They want us to look good for 3 1/2 quarters.

How do you think Wolf and Mayo view this issue?

Their goal is to win as many as possible ...
Why would the players and organization expect anything else it's what they are paid to do.

A top 5 pick is one player, 1 time, the importance of this player, if not a QB, is not that high.

I think if you look at history having a top 5 pick is not a secret sauce to become a top team, so it is rather meaningless to guys like Wolfe and Mayo since they have the QB already.

However, as a fan the idea of teaming Maye, a top 5 QB IMO, with a true #1 WR or top 5 tackle accelerates the process. Year 2 they become probable playoff contenders.

Obviously, they want to win as many as they can. But realistically, they should be happy if they got 6-9 wins. On the other hand, if they don't win more than 4, then we're going to be asking whether the hiring of Mayo was a massive mistake.

Obviously?

How many posters, last year and this, suggested that the team should try to win fewer games so that their draft picks would be better?

Wolfe is not behaving like someone who wants to win 20 games THIS year.
If he wanted to win 20 this year, he would have done more in free agency to fix the OL and skill positions. He probbaly would have not signed Brissett.
To me he seems like he is trying to set things up to go for it big time in 26.
Right now he is slowly collecting talent and yes that does include having an opportunity in the 25 draft to get top tier talent on the offense.

I am not saying he would be upset if they won a lot of games this year, but his approach does not seem to indicate that is his expectation or intent.

This is assuming Wolf doesn't think he did enough to fix the team, we don't know that to be true. He might think he did a great job and will compete for a playoff spot this season. He might be right...

2026? They're not waiting that long, they could be fired long before then. Once a team's cap situation is fixed (2020), teams can turn it around pretty quickly. There's no reason to wait. You play to win.

I believe they want to win every game, but are also realistic with rookies and 2nd year players, and what they inherited for a roster.
they have a defense that could be very, very good. they have an offense with major question at QB and have WR's that scare no teams (yet).
they also have very strong leg, but inaccurate FG kickers.
I believe ownership is fully vested in this current management/coaching staff for a minimum of 3 seasons

They had one phase of football to fix… the offense.

They started with the third most cap space in the NFL this offseason, among the most players under contract, the third overall pick with 8 total picks at the top of the draft and a top five defense.

They should be competitive this season barring injury, even if they start slow or are clunky in the beginning, they should show continued growth and improvement.

By next season they should be a contender, if they’re not the collaboration is doing a crappy job.

Here, I'll let Herm explain it:

I came to post this. Nice work.

Since they can't win the SB, they might as well lose every game and get the top pick?

It’s important we teach our young players how to lose… it’s a life skill they can carry with them the rest of their careers.
