How did Josh McDaniels cut to the front of the line?

Re: How did Josh McDaniel cut to the front of the line?

Well you just go right ahead and try to get a job with the Patriots then impress Belichick enough to make you the offensive coordinator. Then you can laugh all the way to the bank. McDaniels did do that - do you thin Belichick just thinks he's cute or something ? Impressing Belichick and getting him to trust you is not easy. McDaniels did it. That qualifies him for the job.

Josh McDaniels = Barry Switzer ? If the head guys says "U da man" then "U da man".

Is it just possible with Brady, Moss, Stallworth, Maroney, etc. and Bill Belichick anyone could be our offensive coordinator?

You seem to think that time is all that matters. Just get some old guy who has been around as a position coach forever and that qualifies him,

We had a very solid scoring offense last year with relative sh!t at WR.

I think the fact that he has such a short resume speaks volumes about how confident Belichick is in him regardless.
Or speaks volumes to the thought that Belichick has been grooming this guy for this very position from the very beginning. We all know BB tries to plan everything 5 steps ahead of where normal people do. I highly doubt that JMcD being this teams OC is accidental, or not planned on long before any of us paid the guy any attention.

Did you guys hear the rumor this year that the Raiders had considered Josh as a candidate for their head coach vacancy?

Yes McDnl in Oakland...way way too quick...Besides all the player moves and such..I just think too quick too soon..maybe in 5 years..

I even whipped up a sig at that time:

If you read Halberstam's Education of a Coach you will see that BB started the same way, and though he worked harder and smarter, he still needed someone to give him a break. I think he sees a smart hardworking guy (MCD), and he wants to carry on the tradition.

Yes MCD is so green he will probably not be going anywhere anytime soon.

He is also so green that he would take the Charlie Weiss Offense and run with it. Most OCs have their own plans, assistants and staff, and another big time guy would bring all that in and upset everyone, especially Tom Brady.

The biggest reason BB appointed MCD is to keep Tommy happy. Tom is successful with the offense here, he doesn't want to change and BB will do what it takes to keep the golden goose producing.

Yeah that was after the Sand Diego win when reportedly Al Davis was impressed by how the offensive line handled San Diego's pass rush.

But it probably had to do with the fact that everything Belichick touches becomes a hot commodity, whether it be coaches or players.
