Has Josh McDaniel run out of gadget plays?

The offense hasnt shown much in the last few weeks, its not like he is running these trick plays while up by 40 or something.

What about this play?

Those gadget plays were so fun (even if the reverses got us nowhere, outside of LaFell's).

That's when I love Josh McD. Wish we would draw up more, considering our limited personnel.

I would like to just have fun during a game instead of stressing over it, but that's hard to come by these days.

I miss Lewis

No worries. We're saving the best for the postseason. Not because we need them, but really to give the competition committee as late a start possible on next years rule changes.

I honestly think some of the reasons they pull this stuff out now is to give other teams and coaches more film and stuff to worry about in the playoffs. I don't think they really cared about winning this game, and I am OK with that strategy. "It's a trap" for the other teams...

That run of gadget plays loosened up the stone wallin themiddle [respect, Jets]. Problem is, they couldn't consistently work off it.

I like the plays here and there ...
But the wildcat ... not sure that's fooling anyone.
Double and triple reverses used to work in the 70's when defenses were a bit slower so forget those also.

I was hoping Josh and Bill would try a few old fashioned power running schemes ... just to please me.

I think Brady should call his own plays. McDaniels is garbage and always has been. We've seen his offenses without Brady and they sucked. Same could be said about O'Brien down there in Texas. Brady makes them look good for a couple of years, then they go somewhere else and get exposed for being no more than assistants to Brady's greatness.

Can't stand McDaniels and his predictable play calling at this point.
When the Patriots ran plays like the LOS formations against the Ravens, do you think BB comes up with all these concepts by himself? There's a reason why you have coordinators and despite whatever you choose to believe, the Patriots are down offensive linemen, down wide receivers, and down their two best running backs. The fact that the team can even compete is a minor ****ing miracle right now.

Must be why they were 3rd in scoring despite losing most of their starters for parts of the season. Hate him, irrationaly all you want but he is a great OC and his record proves it.

Sometimes his calls makes me nuts but overall he is outstanding. His game plan against Seattle was genius.

Josh McDaniels has ran out of players. That's "play" with an "ers."
Bingo!!! I haven't read through this whole thread yet, but I also agree with this. Many of the players, who have worked on the playbook, are injured. It's takes a few players working in unison to perfect a tricky play. They can go horribly wrong if not executed perfectly. I think that's the reason for seeing so little. And, not so good results, when attempted (General speaking). IMO

should of saved the reverse/brady throw.

would of been epic in the playoffs.

Missed the wildcat play, did it work?
it was 3rd and 1, they didn't convert:

they made the 4th down conversion on a sideline pass to white.

There was a play I saw in a YouTube trick play compilation that could be right up the Pats' alley.

The QB throws a screen to a WR, but throws it short and it one hops into the WR's hands.

However, the WR was behind the line, so that it's in fact a fumble, not an incomplete pass.

The nearby defenders are unsure what to do as the WR holds the ball casually and the refs haven't blown the play dead. They are frozen in place.

The WR then heaves the ball deep for a long TD.

I'm really annoyed that the play didn't result in points but instead an INT when LaFell quit on the route on the next play.

We couldn't run the ball, and we could barely pass the ball. What the hell - "Statue of Liberty" play off the bubble screen should do the trick!
