Harry to Chicago for 2024 7th rounder

What magnifies it even more is the 5 receivers taken after him that are all Pro-Bowlers

And the one drafted before Harry has never made a Pro Bowl. Draft picks are a crap shoot. We didn't need Harry to tell us this.

I still think Chad Jackson is Belichick's biggest WR bust. That guy was so highly rated... I was frickin' high-fiving people when they drafted him. Then it turns out that he doesn't know left from right.

Seems like we're a minority that think Dowling was a massive risk and not a good use of draft capital. Sheard was my pick, but I'm glad BB got brought him to NE eventually.
Make that a minority of at least 3... I too Hated the Glas-IR pick and wanted either Sheard or Clemson DLman DaQuan Bowers, who was dropping like a rock...
Imagine if Bill hadn't been so locked-in on Dowling as soon as the first round ended... He could've traded 33 to SF for 45, 108 & 141 and likely would've still had Gas-IR waiting for him there... ****ing idiot.

Tuitt didn't excite me, but wanted Marquise Lee. Allen Robinson was my second choice.
I wanted Nevada LT/LG Joel Bitonio... Mankin$ was about to pull the same bullsh!t he did in 2010, and Bill confirmed my suspicions when he traded him to TB later that summer... Bitonio might've helped hold the OL together when its members were falling by the wayside with injuries during 2015...

Brown wasn't a shock in 2015 and he was okay overall, but I remember Landon Collins was a hot pick for NE.
Yep, in both cases... I was fine with Bill staying at 32 and taking Brown there.

Yea insane.. that was YEAR 3 for him, and a Rookie QB early in the season had to help him with the BASICS of lining up correctly

Guy was clearly a lazy POS who cared more about his instagram and "vibin" than he did about football
That's all Brady fault after unfairly freezing him out his rookie season.

Every team drafts busts…this is not a Belichick phenomenon

True, but Belichick just does it better than those other teams.

Or certainly at least more often, especially for someone who allegedly is the Smartest Man in the Room.

Why don't you go through all the other teams and do a comparison for us...

Nah we'll leave that up to you... Besides, didn't some coach once say I don't care about the 31 other teams?

Remaining deadweight on the roster (post harry trade)

Slowjuan williams
Keane
Assyassy
Bryant
Anderson

Plus:
Godsmack
Carl's junior Davis
Little Lord Byron the Coward
JaWrong Bentley
Josh Bedsore
Ty Montgomery
Yasir c'mon in Durant
Billy it should've been Trey Smith Sherman
And last but certainly least, Thanksdad Ferentz.

ROFLMAO! I still can't believe this theory that 'Brady froze' him out is still being touted as the reason N'Keal Harry FAILED.
Brady knew Harry was a bust way before Belichick was willing to admit it.

Asiasi and Keene for sure... complete misses on back-to-back TEs taken in the same round. Ouch.

Bad information in the second/final paragraph. The narrative that Belichick is a poor drafter is not true. Does he make drafting mistakes? Yes. Is he, on average, as compared to the rest of the league, a high quality drafter and GM? Yes.

A list of players Belichick/the Pats drafted (including UDFA, since that seems within the spirit of talent evaluation) from 2013-2020 (the timeframe you referenced in your post):

Jamie Collins
Logan Ryan
During Harmon
Jimmy Garappolo
Kenbrell Thompkins
James White
Malcolm Butler
David Andrews
Malcom Brown
Trey Flowers
Joe Cardona
Shaq Mason
Joe Thuney
Malcolm Mitchell
Jonathan Jones
Adam Butler
Ted Karras
Isaiah Wynn
Sony Michel
JC Jackson
Jakobi Meyers
Gunner Olszewski
Damien Harris
Kyle Dugger
Michael Onwenu
Is that list supposed to be impressive? Malcolm Brown? He's a 0. Thompkins had 17 career starts, lasted 3 years in the league. Cardona is a long snapper needlessly taken in the 5th round (could have had him as an UDFA). The NFL is playing hot potato with Sony Michel. I don't get putting Garoppolo in the win column... any player you can't trust in the postseason is not a success story. The rest of that list contains 1 pro bowl appearance.

I can't add anything else to what was already said about Harry being a first round pick but if he was that bad then why didn't the pundits and experts say so after that draft? I mean...

Ruiz ended up being the only one in the right ballpark on this pick...

What not one of those guys - some of whom were still basking in the glow of a parade just 3 months earlier and were therefore seeing this pick through IBIT eyes - mentioned was who was still available at the very same position... Prisco, who was also closer to the truth with his grade, wanted Paris Campbell; but those of us who better understood the Pats offense wanted Deebo Samuel or (my choice) AJ Brown ahead of Cambell & Harry because the former two would've been better fits here for what McD & Brady liked to do than the latter two would've been... Perhaps Bill should've consulted Josh & Tom instead of his b!tch-buddy Sperm Edwards...

if he turns into a pro-bowler in Chicago, reserve a spot at the mental asylum for me
What if not a pro bowler but he matches his production (57/598/4 TDs) of all 3 years in NE? What would that say? Scheme, coaching?

Brady knew Harry was a bust way before Belichick was willing to admit it.
No question whatsoever.
Bill in essence gave Brady no reasons to stay here; even throwing to Edelman for one more year wasn't enough, because that's all he would've had.

Asiasi and Keene for sure... complete misses on back-to-back TEs taken in the same round. Ouch.
That Entire 3rd round - when considering just how many picks were in it - has to go down as Bill's (& Nike's) Most Mis-Managed Ever.

Watching Cam hammered it home that sometimes these athletes just run around and play a "backyard scramble" (which can be quite fun to watch - see Mahomes). I think Field's might be a great scrambler, and Harry might fit that approach because he does not have to think. Fields and Harry are both exceptional athletes, it might be fun to watch when they run around, but it is not consistent and will not lead to dependable scoring.

Regarding draft busts, I watched an interesting video with Ted Johnson today. They talked about a lot of things, but he was asked when he was playing if he immediately noticed guys who were either going to be good or who were going to be bad.

The one player he said he knew was going to succeed was Teddy Bruschi.

One of the two players he said was an immediate bust was @captain stone's favorite Chris Canty. Johnson said he was getting "torched" repeatedly in practice and overheard Bledsoe tell Kraft that he should be careful how much he pays him. This was during a time where draft picks were practicing without a contract yet to be signed.

The second one was surprising and I think he had his timeline a bit off and that was Andy Katzenmoyer. He said Katz was an athletic freak, but was "very slow to react" on the field "adjusting to the two gapping scheme". Here's where I think his timeline is mixed up. He had a very promising rookie year notching 79 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, 15 tackles for a loss and 1 INT for a TD. I don't think Carroll two gapped, so I think he was referring to when Bill was the coach as he had a drop off from year 1 until he got injured.

I'll post the video if anyone cares to see it.

He could get those numbers if they just played Flacco ball and force feed him the ball, that level of production wouldn't bother me

I would like to check it out.

if the forum idiot says Belichick is the worst drafter in the league, he needs to provide proof…and that means providing a comparison to other GMs
