...to my American friends and neighbors....we both live in pretty awesome countries...but this day is all about your freedoms, families, friends, and food man, it's always about the food...

Two great countries. Love them both.

But thank God we won the war of 1812.

"No we won it" "Nuh Uh, we won it" "No, clearly we won it" "No we won it and we're keeping the Stanley cup" :D

Today we are all Patriots.

Regards,
Chris

Food, beer, family, beer, friends, beer, fireworks, beer. Best part though was watching SB51 last night on NFL Network (and beer). I loved watching the Falcon owner who thought it would be a good idea to go down onto the field late in the 3rd quarter to dance and celebrate. Once there he couldn't leave or he would have looked even more like a fool (if that is possible). At 11:13 into OT I can only imagine what his meek little wife is saying to calm him down. My guess is something along g these lines. ----- "Pumpkin, do you think I can take Tom Brady out of his zone and break his concentration if I flash the boobies you bought me? Because he sure looks determined to end this game Arthur." -----

The War of 1812 was fought against the British...not the Canadians. Canada was involved but as a territory of the British and not the main antagonist.

Plus, no one really "won". It was more a stalemate that ended in a treaty.

We tried invading Canader then. It did not go well (from a USA viewpoint).

As someone who loves history and is truly aghast at the many lies we've been taught as "history", I'd like to share a little secret with you about our Independence Day. Our true Independence Day is not July 4th but actually July 2nd, 1776.

"During the American Revolution, the legal separation of the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain in 1776 actually occurred on July 2, when the Second Continental Congress voted to approve a resolution of independence that had been proposed in June by Richard Henry Lee of Virginia declaring the United States independent from Great Britain rule.[5][6] After voting for independence, Congress turned its attention to the Declaration of Independence, a statement explaining this decision, which had been prepared by a Committee of Five, with Thomas Jefferson as its principal author. Congress debated and revised the wording of the Declaration, finally approving it two days later on July 4. A day earlier, John Adams had written to his wife Abigail:

The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.[7]

Adams's prediction was off by two days. From the outset, Americans celebrated independence on July 4, the date shown on the much-publicized Declaration of Independence, rather than on July 2, the date the resolution of independence was approved in a closed session of Congress.[8]"

Also....all those original American flags you see....actually not designed by Betsy Ross. That was a lie told about her by her grandson. The person who actually designed the original national flag was a guy and his name was Francis Hopkinson.

BTW, he asked to be paid for the design of the flag in wine. Now that is clearly someone who understood the meaning of the July 2nd holiday. :)

Spent the day on the plane to the U.K. so I missed the fireworks, but it's not too late to wish you all a Happy Fourth of July!
