No to Gronk, but they can have Branch, Rivera, Bequette, AND Mallett. No way the Jets turn that down.

5 People voted "YES"??? :bricks:

Note to the Mods: Might be time to install "InstaBan" SoftWare.

If you vote "Yes", you should get a nice Pop-Up Message:

The two poll options should have been No & No.

Lets see...possibly a future hall of fame tight end traded for a CB coming off an injury that may stop him from returning to top form ever again.

All I can say is........ :bricks::bricks:

possibly a future hall of fame tight end with a team friendly cap contract for years traded for a CB coming off an injury that may stop him from returning to top form ever again who is not signed beyond 2013 and openly states he wants to be the cap exploding top paid NFL player.

The insanity of the OP and any non-Jets fans voting yes is beyond measure

The results of this poll are hilarious.

When you adjust for the margin of trolldom, -2 people agree with the OP.

This thread officially begins the stupid season unfortunately.

The only thing sadder than the topic at hand is the fact it reached 7 pages.

I like to think of these threads as traps for Jet fans.

This forum has 5 hidden ones right now and they need to be burned at the stake.

I'm in for our own virtual Salem Witch Trials!
Great off season entertainment.

No. A guy who can drag 2-3 defenders for 4-5 yards after the catch, and is the most powerful red zone weapon in the NFL is worth much, much more than a shutdown corner coming from an ACL injury. The idea of the NE LBs/S trying to defend Gronk against the JEST is awfully terrifying.

I hope "TB=TD" comes out saying he was just trolling with us....

No, not in a million years. Revis is a headcase and has proven to be a 100% selfish player. He's good yes, but he's not Gronk-good.

Historically, star WR and CB in the NFL are divas. Revis and Ty Law - despite their immense talent - have "headcase" features. They both grew up in Aliquippa, PA - maybe there is something in that water?

Did you know that if you rearrange the letters in "Aliquippa, PA" you get "The JEST suck"?

Oh? It doesn't work?

Who cares.

Aaaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

He's also coming off of a major ACL tear surgery, and is due to cash in on an extremely large free agent payday at this time next season. That's IF he doesn't hold out this summer first.

Gronk is extended through 2018, and no other player scored more TDs in the entire league prior to his injury this year over the past 2.5 seasons.

According to Football Outsiders, here are the top 5 receiving TEs in football:

Rob Gronkowski: 268 DYAR
Tony Gonzalez : 235 DYAR
Heath Miller: 193 DYAR
Jason Witten: 183 DYAR
Greg Olsen: 136 DYAR

Thats a pretty quick drop off. Gronkowski was twice as valuable as the 5th most valuable receiving TEs in football. A funny thing happens when you start looking at it by game though:

Gronk: 24.4 DYAR/G
Gonzo: 14.7 DYAR/G
Miller: 12.9 DYAR/G
Witten: 11.4 DYAR/G
Olsen: 8.5 DYAR/G

In a per-game way, Gronk is twice as 65% better than the 2nd best TE, 100% better than the 2nd best, and 200% better than the 5th.

And that completely ignores the fact that Gronk is one of the best run blocking TEs in the league, and most of the guys on that list are average-to-bad at run blocking. He's the best TE in the league, and its not even close.

He's also 23.

Revis will be 28 before the season starts, is coming off a bad injury, and plays at a position where transitioning from team to team seems to be almost random. (Asomugah looks terrible, Butler looks good in Indy, etc - I think scheme is incredibly important for CBs).

So, no.

Trading Revis for Gronk hell no. Makes as much sense as trading Brady for Shanchez.

I wouldn't make the trade because I'm more for keeping Brady comfortable with the same receivers, especially because he's getting older.

But... it wouldn't be all that bad if it happened.

Gronk is the best TE in the NFL, no joke. But the offense doesn't exactly NEED him. They would be just fine without him as long as they have or pay Welker and find a deep threat WR to compliment him. The defense however NEEDS somebody in the secondary. Revis, though overrated, is a whole lot better than anything in the secondary.
