Peyton is so much more biased than Tom. Moss and Gronk are unanimously Goats, marvin and berry arent even top 5’s
I agree. Fitzgerald is also not in the top 5.

You can at least make a case for Harrison numbers-wise.

Berry was a great receiver in the 50s and 60s and is rightfully in the hall of fame. If he were still with us, he'd tell you he couldn't hold Moss' jockstrap himself. (Except in a far more gracious and gentlemanly way, because that's who Ray Berry was).

P Manning is not a serious person.

Very true and based on eras you might even make a better case for Berry over Harrison. Harrison was completely a biased choice.

But could Berry hold Harrison's jock?

Moss and Rice are no brainers Manning was dumb there. So no reason to compare the old guard to them they are freaks.

I think 3 things going on with that choice.

Trying not to grab all more recent guys. I think Rice covers that though.

Trying to judge players amongst completely different passing eras. I think if you rate Berry against a curve I still probably wouldn't land him on top 5 but there's plenty of guys he probably would leapfrog.

Their both Colts so Manning probably had a lot of Berry shoved down his throat for a long time creating a little bit of a bias.
I also imagine that, as QBs, they are looking at things other than pure production. They have a much deeper understanding than fans who just look at production and do not see the "other things" like blocking, running clear outs etc.

Just a thought, but I agree Berry over Moss is crazy from my perspective.

The question was also who is on THEIR Mt Rushmore, so none of the answers can really be wrong. Some of you are super sensitive

It's hard in general to compare Berry to anyone today. We always talk about the 2004 rule changes, but at Berry's peak you could borderline commit felony assault on a WR multiple times a long their route and the passing game was nowhere near as developed. In fact, Berry and Unitas were very much pioneering the modern passing game in a way that is still felt today. If it wasn't for them, you can throw out a lot of what the league looks like today because it wasn't going to get there nearly as fast.

I think you definitely can say Moss is easily the better pure athlete at the WR position. But Berry does have a claim to having impacted the position more. So it sort of depends on how much you value that.

Harrison is the real homer pick for the Colts that Manning made. Berry as a sort of pioneer is justifiable.

Tony Gonzalez over Gronk?

I get that Gonzalez' raw career numbers are bigger thanks to having a longer career, but c'mon . . . if that is all Manning is going to base his assessment on, that's a huge simplification, akin to only looking up stats and never watching a game.
At first glance, you question it. However, Gonzalez was bad ass and had big numbers in an era completely different than when Gronk came into the league. In fact, he and Antonio Gates set the tone for teams scrambling to find the more athletic TE's they could feature in the passing game.

The #1 vrs #2 spot for both WR and TE boil down to basically the same argument. Who are you taking for 1 game vrs 1 season vrs career? Both Moss and Gronk are more likely to completely dominate one game like 12 catches 200 yards 3 TDs vrs Rice and Gonzo will give you their usual 6-8 catches for 60- 100 yards and maybe a TD. So obviously for one game, or peak, I'm taking Moss or Gronk. Season is where it gets interesting and for me the tie breaker comes down to rings, Rice has them Gonzo doesn't so I'm rolling the dice on Gronk being healthy for one season because when that happened SBs happened. Moss for as amazing as he was would occasionally get completely taken out of a game. Was he just taking coverage deep and letting others shine? Maybe, but the lack of rings is there regardless so I'm taking Rice for a season. Career is obvious for both Rice and Gonzo they gave you their average game week in and week out for nearly two decades. That kind of production for that long is crazy valuable too.

I think Harrison and Berry were very similar players tbh.
