Groh not Wolf led the 2021 draft

Don’t really care who runs it as long as they are good. Last years draft was lights out and as long as it continues the janitor can run it if that works too.

I’m glad they were able to retain both and its easy to cheer for them regardless of who is running it.

Btw it looked like Wolf handled the trade for Barmore in some form or fashion if we are going to drop articles.

after brady.. harry is the player who is discussed most. in fact more than even mac jones though not in a endearing fashion. props to harry for that. singlehandedly united the entire fanbase and fired em up...

Well he manned the phones.

Amen brother!

Quick recap, let’s do the math!

2013-2019 drafts = putrid

We hire wolf

2021 draft = spectacular!
Why wouldn’t you look to the people in charge and recognize Caserio was gone and Ziegler and Groh were now in charge rather than a guy who was a scouting consultant?

Little mention NE drafted a half round higher than their typical 'end of each round' slotting.
Let's hope the powers in charge can succeed picking 7 slots later in this draft.

Yeah, like you were in draft room? Give me a break, you know nothing more about Patriots operations than the average fan.
So you think that a scouting consultant just decided to make a trade?
Ok. Gotcha. And the Dorito sink wrote game plans too right?

Not the kind of poster thats goes back and forth. Nowhere did I write that Wolf is in charge which seems to be your personal battle with all the posters on this board. It’s a team operation unlike what some believe. I’m happy for the hire and do believe that every member in that draft room plays a role. If you can’t agree with that than there really is no need to respond.

This is as close as you are going to get into BB explaining how the Pats set up their draft board.

Players each get a number, a color and maybe a letter or multiple letters.

BB didn't say what each means, although I take it from his comments, the letters stand for things like injuries, transfers, suspensions, team captains, etc. I'm guessing the number is the number equal to where they believe that player should be drafted and the color might be scheme to team fit.

So say Jones would have been 5 (where he was expected to be drafted), then whatever color stands for greatest team need, and then maybe a couple of letters indicating he played in a Pats style offense, and sat behind future Pros in college, etc.

This is just my guess, not sure how they had Jones graded, but just trying to illustrate that the Pats don't just stack a board according to numbers, they use multiple things to evaluate the draft picks.

This might account for the numerous reaches over the years (mainly DBs), and the Pats propensity to draft players with injury concerns which worked out great in the cases of Gronk and Cannon, and not so much with Ras IR, that Michigan LB who couldn't stay healthy (forget his name).

The #1 reason why their drafts were perceived as sub-par.

When teams always go deep in the playoffs, they typically pick in the bottom of drafts and the %s of landing starting -caliber players lessens.

Ironic how the year after they go 7-9 they have a solid draft

Of course Bill could have traded up in all those draft years that produced little to nothing for NE, but he has his pride

He also has common sense
Common sense (or edict from above) to hand the draft keys over to less entrenched draft decision makers
Yep. Same coach who sat tight while Mac Jones fell to 15 and moved up to draft Barmore.
Using Groh's draft board
You do realize every team misses on draft picks?
Boiler plate drivel espoused by Team Bill ****s

Belichick DOES trade up. Not the six pick mega deals that get you from 27 to 10, but he trades up a few spots in the first or second fairly often. He did it TWICE the year they drafted Hightower and Chandler Jones. But there's still an advantage for a team that gets a top 15 pick naturally, versus one that has to sacrifice other picks to get there. That advantage is more picks (which end up higher in the later rounds too).

What does pride have to do with make draft day trades?
Oh and belichick has traded up many times.

Then why post that article and misrepresent it?
