He wasn't getting a promotion. He's just making things up.

I am not making it up. I may or may not be wrong, but not making it up. The question is whether it is an official block or a block under the unwritten rule that coaches leaving a team to be head coach elsewhere does not take coaches from the staff he is leaving. If it is the former, then no he wasn't getting a promotion. If it was the latter, he could very well have been getting a promotion if he left. If Belichick said told McDaniels he couldn't steal Caley away from him, McDaniels would never do it even if under NFL rules McDaniels is allowed to do it.

So he did it, even if he didn’t do it. Gotcha.

LOL! This act you have is sad.

I am admitting I could very well be wrong. It could even be that I am most likely or definitely wrong. It all depends on whether the Patriots blocking Caley from going to Vegas was an official block or just Belichick telling McDaniels he couldn't have Caley and McDaniels honoring his wishes.

Talk about sad. You say you could be writing then argue you aren’t.

It is impossible that he was officially blocked from taking an OC job. Impossible. It is against the rules.
Faced with that fact, you say, yeah well belichick still ****ed him, so it must have been in secret. McDaniel chose Lombardi.

I love how the most irrational and facts avoidance person on the board is trying to school me on what is right and wrong.

Was he officially blocked? That is all I am asking. The only person who had that the Patriots blocked the Raiders from speaking to Caley was Albert Breer.

You shouldn’t be so hard on yourself. You don’t seem to know any better.

A team cannot by rule block a coach from interviewing for air taking a job that is a promotion. Fact. If breer actually said that then he was talking about a lateral move, or he is wrong.

It's not like the Pats had brilliant offensive minds banging on Bobby's door to be the OC. They got what they could.

They would have had plenty of those lined up for HC interviews. But Bobby's door was closed shut.

Again, if Belichick told McDaniels he couldn't have Caley, McDaniels would have honored that wish. It probably was an official block, but it could been Belichick saying no to McDaniels.

But we have gone back and forth on this enough.

It would have been a lateral move anything else you're trying to invent is just pure slander.

Yeah, I think our inability to get a solid OC had to do with the Pats neither having a QB and concerns over Mayo as a rookie coach.

I trying to invent anything. New coaches not poaching coaches from their old team is absolutely an unwritten rule that most new head coaches abide to and most coaches get permission to do so if they do take coaches.

If it was an official block, it was a lateral move. It is most likely that is the case is that what is happened. I admit I am more likely than not wrong. But leave open the possibility it was that Belichick just said no and McDaniels honored it.

Back and forth?
No. Belichick 100% could not block Caley from interviewing or taking a higher job. Iron clad, no question, incontrovertible.

You want to criticize belichick so you have seared out of thin air, with absolutely nothing to back it up, this idea that since he couldn’t block it, he pulled a mafia block.

I’m not sure what you think you accomplish with these disingenuous posts.

Thanks for the input. You are awesome keeping this going. Can we check back if we have gotten anywhere on this issue 350 posts from now.

I already said I am most likely wrong. Just leaving open the possibility that Belichick told him not to take Caley after he let McDaniels take several coaches including some with lateral moves.

Also I have no clue where this term official block comes from pretty sure it's just tampering if you contact a coach about work that is not considered a promotion. I don't pay as much attention to coach rules as free agent rules but I'm still pretty sure you're just making things up. There are rules in place for how all this stuff works and you're just acting like Bill was being some kind *******.

Then stop responding. I am only responding to your continuous posts.

Your post now amounts to: you have been proven wrong, know it, but still want to make up a way that you can continue to criticize belichick. Now that criticism is that the coach he developed may have been respectful.

Oh, and you attack the people who proved you wrong, because that’s just you.

I am not trying to make Bill look like an *******. If anything, McDaniels is the ******* because he broke the unwritten rule that you do not poach from the team you are leaving. That is a big deal among coaching staffs and McDaniels violated it.

If Bill looks like an *******, it is because after he kept Caley on the staff, he promoted Patricia over him because reportedly Belichick was concerned that Caley would leave after the season and refused to tell him what his role is going forward (according to Caley's camp). It wasn't that he blocked Caley from interviewing elsewhere, it was how he treated Caley afterward that would make him an *******. Blocking Caley from going to the Raiders has nothing to do with that.

He know that. He just thinks there is a crowd to play to.
