"Actually, I called up Stephen Gostkowski and asked him to kick me, but he went wide right!"

You gotta admit...THAT was funny!

Whats the real point of this thread?

All i have read is someone trash Gostkowski and people telling him to shut up.

What purpose does this thread hold.

Is someone actually thinking about signing Gramatica? If they are its stupid. Literally. Why waste another active spot for two kickers. TWO KICKERS. I'm sure everyone would love to see Gramatica out there nailing 40+ yarder FG's right? Because he surely couldnt miss could he? Of course he couldn't.

So lets all point at the kicker and laugh at his name and make fun of him and how he performs. Since we all know that he is horrible.

What a horrible thread.

Oh, what a bummer! Well, if you really want, we could ask Doug Flutie to drop kick you.

Everyone knows that Gramatica was injured during his 1st go-around with the Colts. To hold that against him is just dumb.

Now, Granted, his 10 kick-offs haven't exactly been spectacular (avg only 64.4 ypk) but its not horrid either. What is bad about Gramatica's kicks is that they are low line drives. That doesn't give the kick coverage team much time to get down the field. And that is shown by the league worst 31.3 yards per return compared to 22.1 yards per retrun when Vinatieri is kicking the ball.

He wasn't hurt. What are you talking about? All he was on the team for was to kickoff. Vandy took care of the field goals. Why would a team keep a guy to only kick off if he were hurt? I think you are thinking of his dumb arse brother who tore up his knee celebrating.

I think that I was the only one in this forum that wanted to keep Gramatica instead of Gostkowski.

Gramatica had shown that, when healthy, he can be one of the best.

But then again, you also think Hobbs shouldn't be starting (even considering who else we have at CB). So...

I've been waiting for NEM to say who it is that he would start over Ellis (it can't be Asante, as he's starting on the other side), but he's dodged my question for over two weeks now. Bawk bawk bawk. Completely off topic from the the thread though, so my apologies.

Actually, Sean, the whole point of the thread was me saying how right now, of the three kickers, AV, Gramatica and Gostkowski, I felt like we got the #3 guy, FOR RIGHT NOW.

I don't know what Gostkowski will become, but today, RIGHT NOW, of the three, I'd take AV or Martin Gramtica over Gostkowski.

I also called him "Shankowski" or something like that, and got flamed for it...that's probably most of what you were reading.

"5 Rings for Brady" and "DaBruinz" and "BritPat" venting on me for dissing Brickowski.

That's all.

You ain't missing much.

See ya,
Armen Da Crap Fan

(that's my new nickname, per BritPat, who chastised me for dissing Hookowski and then promptly gave me a derogatory nickname as some form of cosmic retaliation! I like it! I am a HUGE fan of a good, healthy crap!)

I didnt even see Nem's quote until just then.

Wow Gramtica can be one of the best? He wasnt even employed in the NFL last year. He sucked.

WTF is going on here... I keep finding myself on the same side of, and/or defending NEM these days

Gramatica was injured last year - or at the very least, not fully healthy to my knowledge.

Some did think he might have been washed up but the bottom line was that no one knew - and his time in camp here made it very clear that he was more than capable of kicking in the NFL

NEM was indeed among the few coming out in favor of Gramatica over Gostowski.

I was among the even fewer coming out in favor of keeping both - though if I had to choose one it would have been Gostowski.

The truth is Gramatica had abdomen surgery after the 2004 season and he believed that was the cause of his issues. He was not ready for the season opener but was available during the season. No one wanted him.

In TC he looked alright. He wasn't necessarily hitting everything great. He had some iffy kicks from 20 yards out during TC and Gostkowski out shined him in camp in every aspect. The only time Gramatica looked good was in the preseason games.

Even kicking for the Colts he has only had 1 FG attempt and it was from 20 yards out. Not a tough kick.

Also his KO's are horrendous just barely making it to the ten.

Okay, Digger, there are AV's percentages, and here is Klankowski's:

50%

I cannot belive that you posted that. It is a freaking 4 games. Armen, you have lost most of the boards respect with this idiocy. Unbeievable Armen Da Crap Fan. That was very fitting.

that was interesting seeing adam vinatieri's season-by-season field goal percentage.

it left me wondering, what is the league wide average for field goal percentage?

is it 80% ?

is it 90% ?

does anybody know, or know where I could get this figure ?

and if adam's numbers were not that impressive, then is the general speculation that he is a likely hall of famer based purely on a handful of clutch kicks? I love adam dearly, as do all pats fans, but this is interesting to ponder.

Workorse, Gramatica WAS HURT during his first tenure with the Colts. He had a torn abdomen and adductor muscles that went undiagnosed by both the Tampa Doctors and the Colts doctors. It was very well publicized when the Pats signed him that Gramatica had surgery in 2005 to fix the problem and that it was the same type of surgery that Brady had after the 2005 season.

Did not know about that, I paid little attention to him after he was gone. But that is beside the point. My comments were about his most recent stint with the Colts, not the first time around.

"Respect" from Internet board posters is overrated!

We don't even really know anything about each other, save for the drivel we blow all over these boards!

"Internet board respect", as you characterize it, by the way, also comes and goes depending on who agrees with you at that moment and who doesn't, so why sweat it...

So I follow this rule: Just say how you feel and let the chips fall where they may!

Concentrate on earning your respect in life from your God and your family and your employer and your friends and the people you love and care for...

If you're seeking respect on Internet Boards, you need to kind of re-evaluate your priorities anyway, IMHO...

As usual....people have problems figuring out the obvious with this team.

It is better to let a guy go a year too early, that a year or two too late.

The choice was to go with an overpriced guy on the downside of his career or a young promising kicker with nothing but upside who nails kick offs better than his predecessor for sure.

WE WILL BE FINE.

I am very happy with Gosthowaboutski kicking for our team!!

Just putting in my 2 cents!

As a University of Memphis alumnus and avid Tiger Football supporter, I just want to say some of you are really underestimating Gotti (our nickname for him in Memphis!). The guy is a purebred "killer" of a kicker.

If given the chance, he could surpass Grammatica's numbers! Sure I'm biased, but it is not a blind bias!! The guy is great human being and tough nut, to boot (no pun intended!).

He was an amazing and valuable player for our university. He will be a MVP for the Pats one day, as well!!! I'm a Titan fan here in Nashville, but keeping one eye on the Pats for as long as our man, Gotti, is there! GO PATS!:rocker:
