Great win yesterday, though you wouldn't know it from this board.

1. Wes Welker is not coming through that door.

He's on another team. He's under contract He's gone, departed, flew the coup, made his deal with the devil, left, split, vamoosed. He's an expat.

2. Injury prone. Whether this is a generalized condition someone can have is questionable at best. People can have conditions that are prone to reinjury, but breaking bones in the neck or concussions generally require application of a blunt object with great force, the type of thing that happens in football.

If you hit yourself in the head with a hammer you might be clumsy, but the actual act of hitting yourself with the hammer, not a propensity for receiving hammer blows, is likely the cause of your headache.

3. As the Gronk turns. You are not a doctor. Maybe you are a "league source" but even then, you aren't at Patriots practices. If you are at Patriots practices, you are a team source, which means you would take a cyanide pill before revealing the weather report.

Get the idea? The gossip columnists you read don't know anything, the few doctors that do aren't talking and Gronkowski is truly day to day on returning until some sort of move is made.

4. Injuries (we're cursed). We're high on the list, but Cinci is higher and they just beat us. We set a record in 2003 and won a Super Bowl. Some list, if you care, below.

The point is, everyone has injuries and I think it's getting worse. We've always valued good depth, so we fare better. It's also a guessing game. People complain about Blount and Bolden, but that nice depth has allowed us to stay two dimensional. On the other hand, we would have needed to sign a dozen tight ends to offset unanticipated medical issues, evil secrets and a bunch of injury issues. These losses exposed our anticipated weakness of a green receiving corps but we've done more than survived!

If there's an answer, I think it's the best teams play harder and get injured more.

Could we talk about football? About a team coming together and playing with heart? It would be a nice change.
