Interesting today, using mock sims, I could not get Maye at #3 on multiple sites. Not saying there's anything to it, just hmmmmm.
I saw a decline in availability too. But he’s still pretty much going at 3.

If I could guarantee I could get JJ at 6 I would make this move. However, I'm not coming out of the draft without either of them so they need to be damn sure they can get back up to 4 if necessary. The odds suggest JJ will be there at 6 but not sure if I want to gamble. Two future 1sts from the Giants would make me to take it.

Right, unless he goes at two. I am sure the Pats have a plan if that's the case, be it Daniels or JJMc.

If the Pats trade back, I don't know if I want it to be with the Giants. What are they going to get? A second round pick? Trade down to six to draft Penix just to get an extra second? McCarthy will be gone by six.

If the Pats trade down and risk losing out on the top 4 QBs, they need to get a boat load. Which means it will be a trade with the Vikes, Raiders, or Broncos. I think the Broncos are out just because they already wasted so many picks on Russell Wilson. They need a haul comparable to what the Bears got last year from the Panthers.

if the vikings are offering 11, 23 and next years 1st, why would we accept 6 and 47? this is not a realistic hypothetical you made

I have Maye and JJ basically the same tier of player. If I can get JJ + 47 and next year's first (potentially another top 10 pick ) instead of Maye, I do it. That seems a good deal to me and a way to jump start the rebuild

would do 3 for 6 and 2 second round picks
Then trade 6 and a 3rd for 5 and take mccarthy at 5
I don't mean to harp on this, but please, please NOT McCARTHY!

I don't care about the Underwear Olympics for QBs, or throwing in shorts. Maybe I'm just spooked, and I admit that I'm no expert here, but watching his tapes I just don't see it - at all. He wasn't on anyone's radar until the guy who would benefit the most from having QBs go 1, 2, 3, and 4 started yapping about him, and really, if Harbaugh believed what he said, HE should be calling to trade up to get the kid, and planning on unloading Herbert as soon as the contract permits.

I'd take Penix, Rattler, and even Nix over him. And yes, I'm probably wrong, but I just don't see it.

I don't see why not, if the compensation is good enough. Maye is nowhere near a sure thing.
The compensation needs to be significant, just like with Minnesota

The Giants don’t have the ammunition to offer anything close to what it would take. No draft pick is a sure thing…

I am not saying the Vikes won't offer more. I am saying that the Giants won't offer enough to make it worth even entertaining their offer. This is a thread about the Giants making an effort to move up. So I am just addressing their potential offer and why it would be stupid to trade with them.

The Sam Darnold trade was 3 for 6 and three 2nds, two present and one future. That was with the Colts having Andrew Luck and posing no risk of taking Darnold themselves.

Huge difference dropping to 6 vs 11. The draft chart says 600 pts vs 1000. Even if you make them pay a QB tax, 6 is 1600 pts, 47 is 430, so it's "fair". The difference is, as always, what the market will bear. But 6, 47 and next year's 2 or 3 seems about right without being exorbitant.

All this assumes that the Giants must have Maye. If the tax is too high, then they'll just wait and see who falls to #6. McCarthy will likely be there, plus the second tier guys of Penix, Nix and Rattler will def be there.

Some mocks have as much as 6 QBs in the top 13 picks, so a QB tax is to be expected in my opinion. The further up you want to go, the higher the tax. If the Pats don't love Maye, dealing back to #6 with the Giants and getting JJMc seems like the play.

Why in the world would I want this as my QB? I know people are now in love with athletic QBs but having watched Brady for 20 years, we should all know very well that what makes a QB special is decision making, accuracy and outperformance in big moments. Basically all the things this guy seems to be bad at.
Agree but the point is that assessment was Josh Allen. Players can improve.

i would tell giants i want 6, 47, next years 1st and 2nd, and Andrew Thomas. Maybe id consider it then
No one would do that trade as Giants gm
He would be fired tomorrow
Drake Maye is not Andrew Luck

Josh Allen 2018 Scouting Report

Strengths:
  • Great skill set
  • Ideal size for a NFL quarterback
  • Very strong arm
  • Good athlete
  • Excellent mobility
  • Running threat
  • Keeps his eyes downfield as he scrambles
  • Hard to sack
  • Amazing strength to break tackles in the pocket
  • Can stretch the field vertically with his arm strength
  • Throws a good spiral
  • Has a quick release
  • Throws well on the run
  • Can throws receivers open
  • Has worked under center some

Weaknesses:
  • Has accuracy issues
  • Ball security
  • Decision-making needs to improve
  • Throws too many interceptions
  • Needs to improve ability to throw finesse throws
  • Struggled against better teams
  • Played at a low level of competition
  • Concerns about production and ability to be a clutch performer
why not compare to Brady's scouting report?

There is no reason for believing the development of Josh Allen is a predictor of anyone. That is the point with superstars; they basically a one-off and can be found anywhere with almost any deficiencies when drafted/
