For me, Milton could very well be a patriot backup for the next four years. This stability would still allow us to bring in a project (or a low value veteran) each year to be the #3. Absent that, we are looking for another Brissett after each season. Milton is our first shot at a backup. If we were to keep Zappe instead, we'd still need a #2 next season.

I mentioned this during the regular season when it was happening. He was giving up more yards than posters think. They don’t break it down by week, but you can do the math. Pro Football Reference had him giving up 225 yards by week 4 and was on a pace for 925 yards for the season. It’s even worse if he didn’t give up any yards before his injury (since he barely played) or else it’s 225 yards in only 3 full games. 68% completion.
