Me personally, I hope he gets PUP'd, the one where you can come back after 6 games. I want the team, and Gronk to make sure he is 100% before he takes the field. I know the prognosis was 14 weeks for his back, which would put him at game 2. But personally, I wish they would hold him out longer, until after game 6, just to make sure he's 100% healthy. What about you guys and gals, thoughts ?

i'm good with him missing anywhere from week 1 to week 4

I think Brady could really use that time to gel with the new guys, so that later in the season when we start to peak and gronk is getting doubled we will have some Live game action where brady has faith that dobson or jones can make a tough catch.

I prefer to get up at Noon and have Servants bring me Coffee, Truffles, and Scones.

And don't call me "Gronk."

I'm in no rush to get him back on the field, so long as he's 100% healthy when he returns. He's so damn important to have for a full playoff run.

I trust the people who have been involved in professional football for 30+ years and the Doctors who have been practicing medicine for the same amount of time to make these decisions. Not some guys on a football forum who's "preference" is not only completely irrelevant but without any facts to be even able to have an opinion on the matter. Never mind that anyone would ever even logically reason why it might be disastrous to reserve PUP him.

Yah. Don't see the point of this question. Let the doctors make medical assessment and BB's crew translate that into availability. This is NOT an issue where fan opinion means anything of value. WTF?

My Serious Reply to this rather silly Question:

How about December 1st?

Just about enough time to Take It Through The Gears to get ready for The Only Games That Matter.

Just trying to post something other than thoughts about a moron that used to be our other TE.

i don't care when he comes back, as long as he comes back healthy. I do not want to rush him back and have him reinjured himself. that's the most important thing. so to the OP, its nice you would prefer to pup him, but that opinion is based on zero knowledge of anythign really. with regards to surgery, we don't know anything about his injury, his rehab progress, etc.

obviously, in a perfect world, we would have him back by training camp. we will need him in the playoffs. I think we will be good enough to make it there without him.

Reserve PUP, for his own sake. Maybe then Bill, Skippy & Brady will be less willing to have him run
******ed 30-yard sideline patterns his first game back.

My apologies, Brother Scott.

I think perhaps I and others jumped the gun in deriding the premise of this Thread.

Yes, it "doesn't matter" what we wish, in the sense that it won't influence Coach Bill.

But that goes without saying, and is of course true of any and all Speculation that we Fans engage in.

Given all that...It's a reasonably interesting Subject to bring up.

Again: My Apologies, Sir.

Whenever he is fully cleared by doctors and not a day before.

When the doctors and team feel he's ready.

I'll just go out on a limb and say that he'll be back around week 4 or 5.

I shall embrace the idea of this thread and just give my crazy opinion.

I want to see him for the playoffs. That's it. The team is good enough to get in without him.

I am going to be the ultimate contrarian, based on what was said by the principals, but not interpreted or comprehended correctly by the media.

Seeing the hash the media types made of simple statements from the authorities about Hernandez, I can believe most can't read and comprehend much. I suppose that is to be expected. The colleges have changed from using the Education schools as the dumping ground for failing or marginal students, to now using the Journalism schools as the dumps.

What was said is that Gronk's "minor" discectomy return to the playing fields would be co-terminus with his arm. Doctors say that this surgery takes about 6-7 weeks before you can fully resume athletic and football workouts. Another 5-6 weeks is needed to fully prepare the injured player to play football.

This was corroborated by a former Patriots athlete who had the same discetomy surgery twice, , Willie McGinnest, who even used the same surgeon. Willie said it took a total of 12 weeks, to be fully football ready. But he was practicing after 6 weeks, and needed the other 5-6 to get into football shape.

That is what the Physicians say too. It takes a total of 11-12 weeks, but athletic workouts can resume in 5-7 weeks.

The media misinterpreted this to mean that the player can't begin practicing until then, but what was meant is that the player is fully ready to play after that length of time.

Gronk's physician expects his arm to be completely healed and ready for athletic practice about the beginning or a week or two into TC. His back surgeon, similarly expects to be athletically practicing either at the beginning or a few weeks into TC, from his back surgery

That means to me that Gronk will be like any other player going into Training Camp, and ready to play at 100% by the opening of the season, and misses no time at all.

I would like him to participate in as much of camp as possible and be 100% by week 1.
PUP would be a nightmare. Having our second best player not be able to practice until all of preseason and 6 weeks of regular season has passed, effectively being 3 months behind is not exciting to me.
The chances of him being healthy for the playoffs are better if he has a normal season.
