I could be wrong Pape, but I think that Vrabel is already a done deal. I'm not saying that's who I want or don't want. I just have a suspicion that it's what's going to happen (and already has happened behind the scenes).
I think he’s the bird in the hand, but they want to see if there’s a better bird in the bush.

Here's another one for the eventual Patriots HC search megathread lol.

They couldn't interview him right now anyway right? He's in the playoffs.

So, he will interview for any HC job, including that of the patriots.

News at 11.

Did some research on this - yeah Flores told Tua he sucked and didn't belong on the team.

Maybe he should have been here last season to give that "pep talk" to guys like Trey Jacobs and Lowe.

They needed some kind of talk because they clearly weren't getting much coaching.

I read somewhere the first he can interview is January 16. Do you really think Kraft will wait that long? It was convenient that many headlines today say the Raiders may want Vrabel. How convenient for Mike? Did the Jets interview put pressure on Bob and now the Raiders rumor is the final thing to close the deal? Sounds like Vrabel knows how to play the media.

"if you woke up every morning, and I told you that you suck at what you did, that you don't belong doing what you do, that you shouldn't be here, that this guy should be here, that you haven't earned this right,… - Tua on Coach Flores

I don’t want him anywhere near Maye. Very good DC but the coach/Qb relationship it’s important, especially in today’s NFL. Even if Flores wanted Herbert, he should have tried to make the best out of Tua.

The biggest problem with Bill’s coaching tree is they all try to be like Bill but without Bill’s history. Players aren’t gonna buy into the ******* head coach approach if you don’t have the record to back it up.h

One of the positives about Vrabel, is that although he played for Bill and was a Team Leader and picked Bill's brain over the year's (who wouldn't?), he's not part of Bill's Coaching Tree. In fact, I looked at his coaching history prior to TN, and his experience and success is extensive (the polar opposite of Mayo). He's also only 49 and would not only bring the aspects of Bill's that are still pertinent to today's game, but he doesn't share the same draft philosophy nor have a low value of WR's and such. He can relate and adapt to the way the game is played today.

Edit: Additionally, Vrabel still has a commanding physical presence (he can physically intimidate players without opening his mouth). That's not a bad quality to have. It's been reported that AVP has not yet been officially let go. And although Kraft stated that the new HC will of course be able to bring in his own coaching staff (and the door was also left open for Personnel/Scouting People too), I wonder if the new HC (let's just say it's Vrabel), keeps AVP as QB Coach just to continue working with Maye and Milton, while he'll have his own choice for OC and that whoever the OC will be, will have no objection or problem working with AVP. Food for thought.

you could very well be right. i think kraft was regretting his decision to hire mayo after the titans fired vrabes last year

This is great. It feels like the Patriots HC job is the most coveted. It’s probably 1A for Vrable and Johnson or at least I hope it is. I would love Flores back in some capacity, not sure if he could be the HC or not, maybe the assistant HC. It just feels good that a lot of coaches seem really interested in coaching here!!

I've considered the very real possibility that because Kraft had promised Mayo the job before Bill was even fired and then Vrabel became available, Kraft actually wanted Vrabel, but couldn't back out of the agreement that he'd made with Mayo.

I dunno what else to say besides Yes.

I don't like, Flores is direct from the Belichick tree and we should move away from that for good. Also he seems to be a hot head, this team needs discipline right now but not that kind since the locker room is all messed up right now and the new HC will have to build from ground zero.

Vrabel played under Belichick but his coaching career has different origins.

I’m not rushing anything. The Pats opening is the best one and top candidates will be willing to wait on them to pick.

I found video of Flores coaching Tua.
