That would stink... b/c some team would claim him immediately.
I think his point was simply that the number of years in the contract doesn't represent the degree of commitment of the team. Unless there's a significant bonus that would accelerate to the current year, you can terminate a multi-year contract as easily as any other. The Pats routinely add years to cheap deals just in case they strike gold, as with Brandon McGowan. And they routinely terminate those deals when they don't strike gold, as with Terdell Sands.
my point?................what does Sands and simmons have to do with Kyle Arrington?
You're suggesting that BB cut a guy,who we just signed off the PS(for 2 years!,no less),partially to keep him away from certain teams(per Mike Reiss),.......isn't THAT what youy're suggesting?
Not putting someone on IR or cutting someone like Alexander or Lockett, who are older and have bigger contracts, but Arrington?..............ridiculous.My advice is the same..............Watch last Sunday's game, then,if Garcia is signed, watch NEXT sunday's game.................Arrington will be on the 53.......again.
I would start a thread about it
He must mean that they ran out of footballs for Seward.
FWIW, Seward is on the Jaguars.
fine with me
I wanted him on the 53-man roster to start the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
:singing:I hate to break it to you, but Lockett is a rookie and went undrafted in 2009. Arrington went undrafted in 2008. He's a few months older than Lockett. They're both 23. They both are making minimum base salary ($310,000) for a player with no credited seasons. Therefore, when you wrote "cutting someone like Alexander or Lockett ,who are older and have bigger contracts" you were incorrect. As far as Alexander goes, the fact that they just cut him to bump his current season salary above the veteran minimum exemption and make it guaranteed with the hopes of re-signing him speaks volumes as to how the team values him.
Arrington had (drum roll) two tackles on Sunday. Please. The fact that you are already spewing over his abilities is laughable.
As far as other teams signing Arrington, don't take it as some assessment of Arrington's worth. Teams have been signing players off other practice squads frequently over the past few weeks as their reserves have gotten injured. Some team that had a cornerback go down with an injury (i.e. the Colts) was probably looking for another body and had a good scouting report on Arrington. The Pats had their own injury (illness) at CB and needed him around. Don't make anything more out of it.
I'd put my money on Lockett. They just signed Arrington to a 2-year deal. Lockett has been a good special teamer, though.I'd say Arrington, if Wilhite is healthy.
PFT reporting this rumor as bogus.. Lets move on
Am I missing something here? Did he do something earth-shattering on Sunday? Is he the next Champ Bailey?

no he did not...... He made a nice hit 1 time...
OK, so why did you say that a team would "claim him immediately?"
