IR(5): J. Edelman, D.Rivers, T. Garcia, S. McClellin, Cyrus Jones
Picks in 2018: #1/#2/#4#4#4/#6

It's not popular but if they want to keep Jimmy he's gonna take a discount and a long contract. Use ou first on CB to replace Butler. Our #2 to replace Van Noy. Replace Richards with a 4th. Bring another T with another 4th. Bring another TE to compete with Hollister.

Let walk: Waddle, Fleming, Van Noy, Amendola and Butler(we don't have cap space)

Seems like there's two spots left and it's down to Richards, Hamilton, Bolden, Lucien, Waddle, Garcia, McDermott and Croston.

Anyone worried about the cornerback depth a lil?

Let walk: Waddle, Fleming, Van Noy, Amendola and Butler(we don't have cap space)

Who is claiming that there isn't enough cap space? They should have at least 30m or so, maybe 35.

My guess at the remaining moves.

Edelman, Jones and Rivers to IR.
Davis to NFI.
Defense: Hamilton, Kilgo, Ellis waived.
WR: Lucien waived.
OL: Ferentz, McDermott waived.
OL: Garcia placed on IR.
That gives the Patriots 9 OL and 5 WR (not including Slater).

McClellin gets placed on IR tomorrow, making room for a player to be re-signed.

Richrads, Roberts and Bolden all survive (for now).

As of this moment (will probably change by the time I hit 'enter'):

QB (2) -- Brady, Garoppolo
--- Brissett traded

RB (5) -- Burkhead, Gillislee, White, Lewis, Bolden
--- Foster, Daniels waived

FB (1) -- James Develin
--- G Gronkowski waived

TE (3) -- Gronk, Allen, Hollister
--- O'Shaughnessy, S Cotton

WR (8) -- Cooks, Hogan, Mitchell, Amendola; Dorsett, Slater, Lucien, Edelman (soon on IR)
--- Carr, Hollister, Washington, Maye

OL (12) -- Andrews, Mason, Thuney, Solder, Cannon; Fleming, Waddle, Garcia, Karras, McDermott, Croston, Ferentz
--- J Douglas, J King, M Rich, A Jelks (Reserve/NFI)

DT (6) -- Branch, Brown, Valentine, Guy, Hamilton, Kilgo
-- J Augusta (waived/injured)

DE (5) -- Flowers, Butler, C Marsh, K Davis (soon on NFI ?), D Rivers (soon on IR)
--- Grissom, Usher, M Bart

LB (8) -- Hightower, Harris, Van Noy, Langi, M Flowers, Roberts, McClellin, Ellis
-- T Bates, J Freeny

S (6) -- McCourty, Chung, Harmon, Ebner, B King, Richards
-- D Jones, D Travis, J Thompson

CB (6) -- Gilmore, Butler, Rowe, J Bademosi, C Jones (soon on IR), J Jones
--- Moore, Killings, Likely, Coleman (trade)

ST (3) -- Gostkowski, Allen, Cardona

edit: It is now 4:30 and cuts had to be made by 4:00. 14 more announcements (waive, release, trade, IR or NFI) still need to be made.

edit 2: O'Shaugnessy waived. No surprise after announcement that Hollister made the team. Also has been announced that both Fleming and Waddle made the roster.

edit 3: updated to reflect departures of Washington and Daniels. Eleven more (including IR) to go.

edit 4: per Jeff Howe, Geneo Grissom has been released.

edit 5: Seattle trades DE Cassius Marsh to Patriots.

We have so much cap space there is speculation the reason we traded Brisett is because we are signing jimmy to a one year extension.

I don't know if the situations mesh together as much as some may believe, but they're going to carry at least 10-12+ million over into next year and also will see the cap increase. They'll have options with Garoppolo and others. Not to the same extent as this year, but still a very nice situation to be in.

I wonder if he will be re-signed after players that make the original 53 are placed on IR?

edit:

When will we hear a about waivers and practice squad?

I thought the consensus was Carr was better than that dime a dozen Lucien??:D

I'M ONE OVER
Did Lucien really make the 53, and did McClellan get put on IR today?

It was. I was arguing with posters the other night...some of whom said Foster was better than Lucien. Even though both went to the same college and Lucien outproduced foster.

Lucien is tall, fast, he's a deep threat. That doesn't get valued around here on these forums as much as the short, hard working slot guy who everyone thinks is gonna be the next Welker or Edelman.

I'll be very happy if Lucien makes it

They have 5, not counting McCourty and Harmon. How many do you need?

I am talking cornerbacks and not safety. Hope these guys stay healthy. I am expecting our secondary to be our biggest strength on defense.

No, the consensus was that Lucien was the better outside receiver, Carr was the better slot receiver, and there was a lot of discussion about which skill was needed most. A slight majority thought we needed a slot guy more.

And I am talking about people who can cover at a high level, including McCourty and Harmon.

CB depth is pretty low on the list of 'issues'. You have three who any other team in the NFL would be thrilled to have.
