That was the year of Elway-Favre, and a great game. Since then we've seen plenty of stinkers, and no Hall of Famers straight up.

This would be a great matchup. Brett Favre is the link to the old school era, as he faced guys like Marino, Elway, Young, Aikman, and even Montana. It would be a great "passing of the torch" game from a legend going out of the league to a legend in his prime, and a great storyline of the old washed-up hero who tries for the unimaginable against a quarterback in the midst of the best season ever. I would look forward to this matchup.

Nah, I have always dreamed of a Brady - Manning superbowl, but never thought it would be possible.......

Still possible... just the younger Manning, not the older one!

If this ever happened, 9 out of 10 people neutral fans would be rooting for GB absolutely.

There s a voice that tells me the same thing .A rematch to that 38-35 game.

except in that game GB was heavily favored and elway was the country's favorite and GB lost. except for the end result i wouldnt mind the matchup

I want the Packers.

That will then mean we have played 8/11 different playoff teams during 19-0, amazing.

Revenge for '96 as well.

Yeah, I've been thinking about this for a while. That's a matchup with a pat little storyline that writes itself for lazy media folks -- the Pats as the cool, efficient, powerful bullies up against the grizzled gunslinger with a heart of gold. The buildup to the game would be excruciating.

I was kind of rooting for Pats-Cowboys, since the likes of Jerry Jones and T.O. make Dallas such a hateable team in its own right.

I guess the Trent Dilfer vs. Kerry Collins matchup wasn't good enough for you.

How about Brady-Warner in SB36? People forget how good Warner was for a couple of years. I'll grant you Brady was a virtual rookie, but hey, he was still Brady!

I want to play the team whose QB has 3 TD passes and whose RB had 200 yards, and whose defense complete shut down a playoff oppoents for the last 55 minutes of the game (after two fumbles turned into scores and being down 14-0)! Seriously, this is the SB of destiny. Eli can play next year or the year after. This is the year for Favre.

Brady Warner wasn't really looked at as that good of a matchup. Warner was the MVP, but I clearly remember people thinking that Brady was the worst quarterback ever to win a Super Bowl until the 2003 season, and we all know that he's far better now than he was during the 2001 season. Also, the Hall of Fame factor is put into play here.

Favre and Brady for the 2007 season is two first ballot Hall of Famers
Brady Warner in 2001 features a guy who could just be a huge fluke (Brady) and a guy who some think could be a Hall of Famer if he has a few more good years (Warner)

Before we became the undefeated wonder, I'm sure the media wanted Manning-Manning more than Brady-Favre, but given how these two teams (and offenses) have played, this is a game for the ages.

1997 superbowl was Patriots vs. Packers fwiw...

Brady-McNabb was a good matchup between two well established, multi-Pro Bowl QBs
