Being released in May hasn’t seemingly limited the market for former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, McCoy has drawn interest from 10 teams with offers coming in up to $11 million per season. The amount of interest has reportedly “overwhelmed” McCoy and he appreciates the decision by the Glazer family to release him when they did.

Report: Gerald McCoy drawing interest from 10 teams, offers reaching $11 million a year

If offers are approaching $11m per year he’s not coming here. I don’t think what we’d offer would even be in that ballpark

Well at least Cowart pry makes the roster now.

Here comes the agent spin.

He will not even smell 11m in real money. If teams would still value him at that he would have been traded to them on his 13m contract for a 6th or 7th rounder. He will get a 11m contract the same way DT got a 6m contract from the Pats.

Precisely what I was thinking.

Obviously not. We had just 1 Pro Bowler on defense last year but I think we can have a similar defense we had in 2014 or 2016. Top 10-12 defense and top 5 scoring defense.

Seriously? It's 2019 and people are still acting as if being selected to the Pro-Bowl means something? It's a glorified meaningless "honor".. And it's been meaningless for close to 15+ years..

replace it with elite players and the result is the same.

Suh got 9.25M for one year, so yeah, McCoy actually might

Bucs, Ndamukong Suh agree to one-year, $9.25 million contract
You know you have to wonder about what the Buc's were thinking in the Suh signing.

What we have here is the Buc's trading McCoy for Suh and $3MM in cap space. I don't think this is a fair trade. McCoy was a great player, but more than that, someone who is a great LEADER within the team and community. Someone they KNOW what they would get game in and game out. With Suh they get an equally TALENTED player, but one who has NEVER been a leader in any city he's played in. He's a player you will NEVER know what you will get game to game. I don't think that trade was worth the $3MM in cap savings.

Cowart is fighting against Parry/Butler/Shelton
I'm not sure of that. I thought Cowart is more of an undersized speed and quickness DT, which would put him more in competition with Adam Butler than Parry and Shelton.

I don’t even know if I would say equally talented. Well, maybe they have equal talent, but on the field McCoy has been good against the run while Suh hasn’t.

To summarize: would Marcus Cannon be happy to find out they’re facing McCoy the same way he was happy about facing Suh? (From the post-AFC championship game locker room video - I still can’t believe that was published....)

That was awesome! Best raw post game locker room video I've ever seen.

I wonder if he could somehow possibly find another star player in the NFL who is a fanatic about his diet, who also plays for a team that contends every year?

Maybe for playing time, but I do think in terms of a spot on the roster those are the guys he's competing with. His ability to back up Butler while the others may not be able to could help him make the team.
