I always get excited for the first preseason game and then about 5 minutes in I remember why I don't enjoy watching preseason games and wish the regular season would get here quicker.

It absolutely does mean something for guys who can make the team at the bottom of the roster. It's not about the starters, but pre-season is another datum point the coaches will use making the bottom of the roster decisions.

John Lynch playing from first snap to last in the 4th pre-season game. He knew he wasn't going to be on the roster, so he asked Belichick if he could play the whole game -- his last as an NFL player. And Belichick honoured that.

Yes, me too.

I love pre-season games and really think that the NFL messed up by cutting them down to three. If only the pre-season announcing (in New England) weren't so dreadful.

They are the broadcasting equivalent of Jerod Mayo's coaching. Kraft has really got to do something about it.
