    Saw this from Bruschi today:
"I think Bill's always gone with trends and where the league is going," he said. "To have a big wide receiver, for possibly shots down the field off play-action; if they decide they still want to be a power-running team, this is a guy that can do it for you."

Think of this scenario: RB Harris running behind OL Denmark Holdftdt +Wynn /Cannon/ ShaqM against all these smaller league LBs and smaller DL, dominating, and also having the play action option to WR Harry if defenses key too much on the run.

Power running game offense this year to help out our 42 year old QB, and also take advantage of all these smaller LBs and smaller DLs in the NFL ?

I think we will see a lot of 3 WR sets and 2 RB sets this year with white often acting as the 3rd WR in those sets.

I don’t buy the idea we will become run first while the GOAT is here. We didn’t barely run any more than normal last year and people were saying we changed.
I think we are headed in a different direction to attack the current defensive evolution.

I think we are going to spread the field with a combination of big WRs and elusive slot guys. A big part of our running game is going to come from 4 wr sets. Spread them out and run in the middle of the field. 4 wr will take at least 5 out of the box. If it doesn’t we pick them apart throwing.

We were first to run the te based offense to create mismatches. We are now moving to the no TE offense to create mismatches.
Throw out of 2 TE offense? They called it crazy.
Now we run out of no TE.

Just trying to read tea leaves but with 20 years of sample size it keeps getting easier to.

I'm not following how you conclude we will have a no-TE offense because they didn't draft a tight end ?

The fact that this guy is good at throwing has really improved the quality of my life.

I’m not concluding it just based upon not drafting a TE. I didn’t mean no TE on the roster or never using one. I’m saying the package with no TE will be a huge part of the offense.
I’m addition to doing very little to add TEs by any means (a TE3 type and a guy who misses more games than he plays don’t count much to me) look at what we have done at other spots.

    We have added
    Demaryius Thomas 6’3 229 lbs.
    N’Keal Harry 6’4 219
Probably the 2 biggest wr of the bb era

    We also added
Maurice Harris 6’3 200 bigger than normal
And Ellington as another slot option

We already have one of the best blocking wrs in the nfl in Edelman and Dorsett will also be somewhere in the mix.

We drafted a RB in the first last year and another in the 3rd this year, both considered assets in the passing game.

We are loading up on non TE skill position players but also acquiring players outside of the normal mode. To me that indicates a scheme shift.
    That’s what I see.

Transition to a power running game started, IMO, after Gordon left. Tea leaves since drafting Sony, but implemented with Gordon’s departure. And I think we’re going to see more of it.

I hope to see plenty of Develin, Sony, Harris, and OL this season.

The drafting of Damien Harris? The rock will carried!

Load the box, play-action comes your way and a jitterbug db is found dead on N’Keal Harry’s face mask.

Defenses better have big guys as linebackers who can also cover. The Cornelius Bennetts of the world are extremely rare, even in the NFL.

Actually feel the transition to the power running game started when they decided they would throw money at Shaq Mason.

Great observation and even though drafting blocking TE guys would add to this theory, I am confident this is the direction in which we are going.

What better way to manage any decline in a 40+ QB than lean on the run game? This would also ease the load for a back-up in spot duty or whoever is given the reins once Tf'nB decides he's done collecting SB rings. And it plays right into the weakness within the "evolution" of NFL defenses?

I absolutely buy it. All you need to do is looks at the two opening halfs of the Chargers Chiefs playoff games and you could see where this team wants to go. Without that power running game vs KC keeping Mahomes off the field, who knows the outcome?

I like the direction, BB is turning the clock back. Ofcourse they are still going to pass the ball. Just not as much unless needed.

Wouldn't shock me if Izzo was #1 TE and Brady was in bottom third in league in pass attempts.

Based on draft seems like AFC east senses the transformation

Don't confuse power running game with a running game that commands respect and CAN be central in a game plan and not secondary

Right, there’s gonna be days where the other team will stop the run and Brady will air it out. Or they will game plan specific to throw first with sprinkled runs or 50/50.

    Last 5 games

    183 passing attempts
    191 rushing attempts

We already moved to a 50/50 pass/run offense and probably even more towards run in 2019.

The reason is probably a combination between keeping TB12 relatively fresh and the opponents defense not being able to defend us.

I think it's an extremely smart transition. TB can still be very effective for another 3-4 years that way.

They have a few wrs that could be pretty effective with sweeps...
