Re: Pats reign is finally over - ESPN

LOL. This is gonna be an EPIC season. I can't wait.

Re: Pats reign is finally over - ESPN

If I were Belichick I would print that article and tape it to the wall above every urinal in the locker room.

Re: Pats reign is finally over - ESPN

This is the second time I've read an article by Ms. Howard. I feel sorry that her father badly wanted a son and heaped such expectations on his daughter.

I know this man.

Moe Howard

I'am not a hater.
I wish Jets go 11-5 .. and miss the play-offs.

Re: Pats reign is finally over - ESPN

Two years. The last game the Pats won was in January of 2008.

Yeah sorry. I meant you had to go back three seasons for a playoff win.

The Jets will go 12-4 this season.

12 indicted. 4 convicted.

Well said upstater. Her bluster was almost painful to read.

Certainly an inflammatory article, perfect for what ESPN is trying to achieve--hits, hype and controversy. But the more bravado like this that comes out of NY the better. We all know how the Pats usually deal with this kind of disrespect.

Regarding this April Super Bowl that really seems to be heating up, ultimately I wonder what Vegas thinks will happen when the real games are played. I'll put my money on the Pats either way.

From that small picture which I could not distinguish the sex, maybe her father got a bit of both.

Jets are the most hyped team in recent memory, probably doomed to failure this season but they have a nucleus of young players that we will be contending with for a long time to come.

I'm not worried about 2010, no team ever lives up to this much hype, remember the Karl Malone, Gary Payton Lakers? But I am concerned about beyond.

That is unless we draft Jake Locker first overall with that Raiders pick next season. It has to happen, almost divine intervention that he didn't come out this year and we'll have the #1 overall pick next season.

Glad to see your good sense of humor was left unbruised in the accident!

Something tells me the Jets will once again be eating their words, as they ALWAYS do.

It includes these phrases from Howard:

– “Good night, New England. It was a nice run while it lasted, right?
– “What the Giants started with their Super Bowl XLII upset of the Patriots’ 18-0 team, another New York club — the Jets — is about to finish.
– “Belichick is good. But not that good. Night already had begun to fall on the Pats’ dynasty last season. This season, the Jets will make it complete.
“Belichick will need those extra (second-round) picks. Loathe as he or any of the Patriots is to say this, New England is rebuilding now.”

Humor is about the only thing that wasn't bruised,it keeps me sane...although some in here would disagree with that assessment

Look, the Holmes move was a good one, IMO. But it is still an extremely high gamble. That team has a lot of big mouths and big egos on it and if things start to go south, that locker room can fracture and break just as easily, if not easier, than it was assembled. The media has put a big, fat target on the Jesters backs this offseason - not just within the division, but within the conference as well. Let's see how they handle it...

I didn't have to read any other posts in the thread after this one. Great post Kontra, fully agree. When things are going good this team will be hard to stop but if they lose a couple of games they might not recover from it.

Excellent post sir.

Excellent post sir.

The Jets lost 6 of 7 in the middle of the 2009 season and STILL not only made it to the playoffs but a game away from the SB,despite teams laying down for them
I don't see that bad streak happening again with improvements they made,we can only hope they lose a few in december when it really counts.

Crowning teams in April has historically been not much better than flipping a coin. Last year the consensus was that Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Carolina or Atlanta, and NYG or Philadelphia would win their divisions; none of them did. In addition the thought was that San Diego, Pittsburgh or New England would win the AFCCG, and one of the NFC East teams would win the NFCCG; didn't happen. In 2008 the consensus was that either Indy, San Diego or the Pats would win the AFCCG; how did that turn out? In 2007 the experts were predicting the Saints would go to the Super Bowl; they finished 7-9. Last year few were talking about the Saints, and they go and win it all.

The Jets appear to have made a good move with the Holmes trade, but I'd say a lot of fans on all sides are over reacting to this move.

What could be a surprise is everyone is talking about the Jets and Patriots and the difference in power in the East, yet no one is talking about the Dolphins and Parcells who you know won't let that team fall apart,He has a bright looking QB in Henne and he could pull the plug for Marshall...I think the Dolphins could be a sleeper in the East that right now no one is viewing as a threat. - I would not leave them totally out as a contender again, like in 2008 they could come up from the dead and bite.

Yep, good point. Both fans and media tend to take a superficial look at the previous year's final standings and not much more. They also tend to put too much stock in recognizable names that get their hands on the ball, and not enough attention to what is going on with team's offensive and defensive lines.

Remember how deliriously pumped everyone was about the Jets after they got Favre? It might happen, who knows, but it's a little early to say either way.
