I think the part that irks me the most is how other NFL fans are eating this up because "Well Belichick traded Garoppolo for peanuts while Brady is in his 40s, clearly something is up there!"

This was also a major point of argument for Wickersham and his "Brady forced Kraft and Belichick to trade Garoppolo because he felt threatened". This part is really nonsensical. This completely ignores:

1. Brady is most likely going to win his third MVP award, if not finishes second in voting, which clearly indicates that Brady is still playing at an elite level. Threatened? Pfft.
2. We could not have franchise tagged Garoppolo because we are not paying two QBs using 25%+ of our total cap.
3. Garoppolo wants to start, and there was no opportunities for him here with Brady still playing at a high level.

If people actually logically think about this, there is really nothing suspicious with the Garoppolo trade. Belichick is not "moving on one year early" because Brady is still capable of playing at a high level for the next two years, we don't have the time or the money to continue to keep Garoppolo as our backup. It's really simple as that.

I want to ask Wickersham: If Garoppolo wasn't playing at a high level, would you have written this article at all?

Dude, nobody is eating this crap up. Everyone with half a brain can see that this is another "sports drama" fake piece to make big news out of Brady and Garoppolo when no big news existed. Yet another "the patriots' demise is imminent.... stay tuned!" article we see every year except at least in previous years they would have had a bad game before the article was released. This time they are sitting on top of the NFL and are the favourites to win the SuperBowl. Just really poor trolling effort by ESPN..

We'll find out if this is a hit piece or not, as soon as the seasons over, because if the trio is breaking up, we know Kraft & Brady aren't going anywhere. Honestly, I've been losing sleep over this exact scenario since the minute JG was traded because the only logical explanation for the trade was that Kraft forced BB to make it.

How big of a disaster would it be if BB leaves after Matty P & McDaniels depart? It'll be 1997 all over again...

The fact that you think that the "only logical explanation for the trade was that Kraft forced BB to make it" shows that you aren't working with enough information or that you don't understand what logic is.

Let's put the some things out there:
- The Patriots received offers for Garoppolo before and at the 2017 draft. NONE of them were were a first rounder or even a HIGH 2nd.
- The Patriots tried to sign Garoppolo to an extension. He declined because he wants to start NOW. He didn't want to sit behind Brady a few more years.
- The Patriots got a Pick that will end up being a pick in the top 10 of the 2nd round.
- If Garoppolo didn't sign an extension, the BEST the Patriots could do would be a Late 3rd round pick as compensation..
- Kraft is on record as saying that Football decisions are what he pays Belichick for.

Now, with that in mind, are you really so sure that your "only logical explanation" was really the ONLY one?

you believe ridiculous things Galeb? How could you be that irresponsible a member of society?
Absolutely, but I believe I am making progress in dispelling many of those illusions. It is a task that can never be fully realized, but the process itself holds huge rewards, not just for the individual, but for all.

Truth be told, as with almost every American, my carbon footprint is still too big to be considered a truly responsible member of society. I'm working hard on changing that and making progress, but there is still a ways to go. Once complete, I will still believe some ridiculous things, but will feel comfortable with the label of "responsible member of society".

This is an issue when you have someone ACTIVELY rooting for a guy in another city. Unless he is related to him.

I must admit, I can't watch the shows that he is on for very long any more and that is too bad. The "bromance" jokes are actually too far for him with respect to Jimmy, the stupid grin he makes when people joke about "his love for Jimmy", and he like almost acts like he discovered Jimmy or something. He should be embarrassed.

Didn't read it and have no plans to. From what y'all are saying it sounds like another hit piece on Brady.

Even if there was a little friction going on between the Brady camp and Belichick is it enormous to cause a split? If not then big deal, they'll get over it and continue winning.

If you believe "ridiculous things" you are not a responsible member of society. Also, I would be interested in any example of a "ridiculous thing" you believe. I do not believe any ridiculous things.

Edit: Actually I did identify one ridiculous thing you "believe" "Truth be told, as with almost every American, my carbon footprint is still too big to be considered a truly responsible member of society" @Galeb

Given BB's track record, there's no doubt in my mind that BB was planning on option A & that if he got Kraft's support, the Patriot dynasty would have run another 10 years and Tom Brady's teenage fangirls would have completely gotten over it within two years.

And you claim to be "logical". You're the farthest thing from it..

Witnessing the deaththroughs of bspn? failing bspn is trying to pick up clicks with its annual sht stirring surrounding the pats and the super bowl. I'msurprised they put this out so early in the tournament and not closer to an actual game.

wickersham is wondering why jimmy was traded for a 2nd ? what was the other option ? keep him till the end of the season and then let him go?
Put him on the open market and get more which I am certain Bill could have.

Regardless, very little new in that article but bringing the obvious out into the open.
