Enough Value -Trade up and get a Playmaker!

I would take a WR and DB in free agency.

Smash out a defensive draft, get some playmakers. The only Offensive player i would take would be an OC.

I somewhat agree. Desean Jackson and Vincent Jackson are supposed to be Free agents so Id love for the Pats to go after one of them. DB and LB (inside or outside) are our first two picks (hopefully). Morris Claiborne or Dre Kirkpatrick could really help our defensive backfield. Buficit, Teo, and the backer from BC would good picks if were plaining to play a lot of 43 fronts.

lol the pats are the cheapest team in the league.

All the other teams shop at best buy and wallmart, while the pats shop at ebay for best deal.

The Pats are not the cheapest team in the league. They have a top 10 pay roll.

The Patriots are not a cheap team.

One could make an analogy that they prefer 25 BMW's and 25 Fords than having 5 Lamborghini's, 30 Fords, and 15 Scooters. But that is very different than calling them cheap.

Spend the first three rounds only on defense and forget about drafting a CB, RB or any other specialty position. Use the first 2 rounds and draft for the defensive front seven and use the third round for a hard hitting safety!
1. LB – Zach Brown – UNC...tackling machine
1. DE/OLB – Courtney Upshaw – Alabama...hard hitting physical player or DE – Vinny Curry-Marshall
2. DT – Jerrell Worthy-Michigan State....may be the best DT in the draft
2. DE/DT - Melvin Ingram – SC...produces results and can cover
3. S – Mark Barron-Alabama or T.J. McDonald- S-USC....big and physical safeties

This would be a great draft but we all know it will never happen.

First off we will trade 2 picks back like we always do and what about a 3rd TE. Wouldn't surprise me to see BB draft another one and another CB.
It we don't take any DL/LB's this draft in the first two rounds it won't surprise me.

I used to agree with this argument... and i think it's what the pats aim to be. But you calling ighedigbo, barrett, brown and our 3rd cb (sorry name escapes me for now) fords?

i think we have our fare share of scooters

I'm saying that's what the Patriots aim for, not what they currently have.

I agree that the Patriots have some "scooters" after the exodus of players from the defensive backfield. (Meriweather, Sanders, Dowling, Bodden, etc...)

hahah dw we agree with each other.

i am just pointing out the predicament we are in now is something we always laughed t the jets for "having no depth".

The pats at the moment seem to be in the very same predicament now at Saftey, Corner and you could even add in there DE

Corner hurts the most after spending in the last 3 years a 1st, 3 2nd's and a 4th on the position. and having only 1 of those players on our active roster next week

I think at WR we will probbably see Ocho go in the off season - assuming that he continues to fail to produce.

Branch's contract is up, and wherever he resigns he will be on less money (i think this year he is on some ridiculous amount). A fair amount of that will be taken up with re-signing Wes welker, or F.Tagging him.

I would love a big receiver like Vincent Jackson, but i think the word is that he wants something akin to Larry Fitz money - which is ridiculous for far too many reasons to discuss. Nevertheless i would like someone like him.

At S, i think someone like LaRon Landry would be a good pickup.

I would not be against picking up another pass-rusher - but i cannot think of anyone who would be good value, and i think to get it right we need to do it organicly through the draft - where the best teams are built.

In the draft - it kills me but we need to take (another) Cornerback in round 1.

Subject to where our chips fall, i would not mind combining our two round 2 picks and turning them into a mid-1st round pick (circa #20-25). That would allow us to take a DE, LB and CB - and we should have a shot at a developmental Safety in round 3.

If not, we should think about a CB and DE/OLB in round 1, and take another LB and C in round 2. Using the #3rd pick to move up if we need to or take BPA.

We have some flaws that i think make us unlikely to win regulaly angainst good teams - but they are very fixable with what we have this off season.

That has REALLY killed us... hindsight is a wonderful thing...

Four years, but your point still stands (Wheatley and Wilhite were 2008).

Disagree 100pct about taking another cb early. First 3 picks. We can't afford to waste another early draft pick on a position where we have trouble evaluating the talent. We have other holes too. I'm assuming 3-4, so I want a 2 gap de, an olb and a safety.
Vinny Curry, Devon Still and maybe one of Bama safeties if they drop to Oakland pick. I'd rather sign a vet to help out at cb. Can't write Dowling off. McCourty and Arrington are both young. A veteran who's not just a jag would be better. Would we bring Asante back on a restructured contract?

Sorry to say it but we need more CBs again... Also with brace and the other dl:s coming back it seems we have guys BB thinks can play in the 3-4. So probably we are looking at 2 DBs. Maybe a C and then some trades and maybe a RB in the third...

"Don't ARGUE with me, damn it!! Just send us more Corner Backs!!"

Not mocking YOU, Brother Swede!!

Not mocking ANYONE, actually...

I just get SILLY, every now and then...

The Pats probaby won't make these type of picks but more importantly it focuses on the team needs. Pats have spent too many high picks on secondary players and only have Chung and McCourty left. Instead of continuing to draft CB's, build the defense around them and any CB would look better if he played behind a solid front 7. The Pats need impact players at DE, DT, LB, SS and hopefully they won't be going after more CB, RB or additional specialty players.

Get a stud DL and LB who can pressure the QB and the defensive backfield suddenly gets better.

Mo Sanu had 7 catches on Rutgers drive to tie the game including a one handed catch on a 4th an 9. This kid is going to be great on the right team if he slips to the late first early second.

Amen! I have been saying this for the past five plus years.

If we can win SB's with Gay Samuel, Poteat, Earthwind, Otis "7.0 flat in the forty" Smith, etc. we can win with what we have now IF BB changes his draft philosophy and realizes we need some players that can get to the QB.

BB must get back to his early years of drafting and start loading up on the D Line and start developing young OLB's. With Wilfork he has a key piece in place. Unfortunately Wilfork is playing60 plus plays a game and will start to break down soon.

BB MUST change his draft philosophy this year.

I'm sorry, I just dont see the need. LB seems pretty deep this year and we are pretty much guaranteed a good safety if we stay put.

I don't see anything wrong with grabbing a combination cb Minnifield, de/olb Curry, S Barron and wr McNutt. 4 positions of weakness covered in the first 2 rounds. I'll take that over 1 play maker any day.

I'll take 3 of the 4. Not sure who Barron is. Sadly Minifield is a 1-2 rounder.
McNutt -Love him. He was a QB that came to Iowa and the coaches decided to move him to WR b/c the QB spot was stacked.
