Edelman: "Jimmy G is a stud"

But neither was Garapolo in HIS first year. NO ONE knows how Brissett will develop over the next 2 years. But regardless of the kind of player he happens to become, only THEN would be the right time to compare him to JG.

So, even though you don't think he can player, ALL indications seem to be that BB thinks he, at worst, has the potential to be the next Pats QB.

I wouldn't go that far. I would say that he thinks Brissett can hold down QB2.

I think there will be a difference in opinion between the younger and older Pats fans. Older Pat fans know that when something great lands on your plate you stick with it until it's gone. Never bet on an unknown. JG could be infomercial great or the real deal. We do not know yet and two games nor 16 games would be enough to let us know. Brady is playing better now than when he won his first 3 super bowls. How long will his eliteness last? I don't know. But you should never trade a known for an unknown no matter how good the infomercial was.

How is betting on Brady playing another 3–4 years any less of an unknown than betting on Garoppolo being the "real deal"?

Also, note that you're talking about what we fans know. BB et al. know 10, 20, maybe 100 times more about Garoppolo and Brady than we do.

Because Brady has won two of the last three Super Bowls and JG has not. Sure BB knows more than me but you are asking for my opinion. That's all I can give you.

I'm not asking why Brady is a better choice for 2017 than Garoppolo. I don't think anyone can reasonably argue that.

What I'm asking is how saying that Brady will play at an elite level** for 3+ more years is a "given."

**If you're going to keep/extend Brady, then you have to assume that he can play at more than a replacement level.

I'm not comfortable trading him. Mostly because I don't think Brisset is an NFL QB ( In case TB was injured).

Didn't think that Dak Prescott was a NFL QB either. He was taken in the Fourth Round a Round after Biscuit was taken. Remember we were told to draft Biscuit by old Coach and friend Parcells. With NFL Prospects who knows.

You guys are delusional if you think JG will stay when he's a free agent.
Trade while he has value asap.
I've seen too many teams bank on who they think their "franchise carrying" player is only to see them walk when they get the chance.

Here's the thing about pro sports, you have to be ridiculously good to make it and it eats you alive that you can't play when you're there.

That being said, unless the GOAT falls apart, JG will only get older watching the game of football instead of playing it.......unless he walks, while passing by the bank.

Trade asap get what you can.

How do we know JG will play at an elite level? We don't. We have two games.

Bottom line for me is that Brady is a proven winner and I want to ride that Brady chain until it ends which may be a couple of super bowls.

I do understand those that want JG to stay because he did look good. But for me personally I'm staying with the winning hand.

Agree. I am very torn about trading him. As much as my mouth is watering at the prospect of a huge draft haul, I would certainly not be unhappy if they held onto him. It probably boils down to what they feel like they have with Brissett. They probably have a good feel for that now.

He isn't going to sit on the bench for even 2-3 more seasons. It's either trade him this offseason or risk losing him for nothing next year. The pressure is on the Patriots to get a deal done.

Hate to trade him, but it's a no brainer move when you have the GOAT.
You can't give a Osweiler - contract to a backup, even if you think he'll be a top 10 in the future.

Hope they'll find another gem in the next 1-2 draft.

Ample evidence exists that strongly suggests that Belichick and the coaching staff disagree.

They may already have one.

Get the 1st for JG
Use the bounty provided by this extra pick (trade down/trade into next year/wash rinse repeat) to draft a QB every year indefinitely to find the next GOAT
Simple ......at no extra cost

The Pats should make a handshake agreement with JimmyG like, go son, we are gonna trade you, go there, play, get some experience, make some money, and get back here in 3 or 4 years to assume this franchise.

Almost like happens in soccer when teams borrow players from other teams for like 6 months or a year, but in this case would be done in NFL terms.

JimmyG was throwing some nice passes in pre season from the get go, to the point BB was comfortable trading Mallet and riding only with TB and Jimmy. He has always shown a nice touch in the ball, Brissett's pass attempts and mechanics were not even close to what Jimmy has shown from day one.

People are getting too emotional. If Jimmy was the QB, that'd be great & I have a decent level of confidence that he'd be exactly what some posters think he could be.

However, let's not crown his *** just yet. TB just came off a SB win (authored mostly by TB himself) and a regular season that was arguably his best (28 TD - 2 INT). The team has been to the AFC Championship game so many years in a row I think Michael Jackson was still charting when the streak started !

The situation is such that TB continues to play & Jimmy's contract is going to be problematic. Jimmy's value will never be higher, it's time for the trade.

Agreed. And that's why I think NE won't get as much for JG as a lot of people here expect.
