Furthermore, the same thing with our players versus most players on other teams. Our guys are coached to not comment or say something nice while others seem to have no problems slinging mud even when the entire story is unknown.

Let put it this way............... most coaches already "out" of the business (and even some still in it) have already come out and said "yeah, happens all the time" even while saying they don't condone it. Some even say, yeah we kinda did dtuff like that (not videoing persay).

Nicely put. If you want some idea of why he said it, PFT has nice take. I appreciate not everyone on here is a fan, and it's made uncomfortable reading for us this week, but often Florio shows real insight and his reports today on Mangini and Dungy, I submit, illustrate that he isn't biased, he just says what he thinks.

He is not right on. He speaks as if this is a complete revelation that anyone would be doing anything sneaky to gain an advantage. Considering his own GM manipulated his positon on the comp committee to specifically "reinforce" a rule that would help his team

I won't try and analyze Dungy, but it certainly would have been classier to either say nothing, or say that regardless of this, Belichick & Co. have put together the best program in the league the last few years, which this doesn't take away from. His "classiness" is overrated, to say the least.

Belichick wouldn't comment on something that had nothing to do with him. The anger stems from the fact that this had ZERO to do with Dungy, yet he has to release a statement about how evil the Patriots are, something the Jets and Mangini, who were technically affected, did not do (other than "We support the league's decision, we will concentrate on our next game"). It's the self-righteous, Christian Mr. Morality Judge Dungy who has a comment on everything and is compared to one of history's greatest men in Martin Luther King when all he is is a football coach that we don't like. The comments on his son were too much, but the idea remains the same: "Judge lest ye be judged," Mr. Dungy.

Thanks for that Oswlek. I was looking forward to a great week of football chats leading up to this game. I am genuinely sorry that this story took place and got in the way of talking basic football (and a little smack).

Unfortunately this board is in rare form. Total mayhem, IMO.

These players and coaches are stuck on a podium and required to answer questions... its a tough situation and a black mark for the NFL. I'd rather it happened to the Raiders, because it would be a laughingstock of a story.

Naturally, I want the Chargers to win. But this board will absolutely explode if they do.... Lots of pressure on the Pats this weekend! Enjoy the game. Should be a great one, barring injury to any of the stars in the game...

As far as this game, I think that either the Pats will be a little off kilter and an emotional SD team will run roughshod over them, or SD is going to get a NE team that has realy circled the wagons and NE will win in convincing fashion. For some reason, I really don't see a FG deciding this one.

BTW, the forum is a little haywire, but you really can't hold it against anyone too much. Just think back to what SD forums were like the week Merriman was busted and then multiply it by 1,000 and you get what we have here.

Things will calm down by the playoff rematch either way.
