The same ****ing people who would have called Kraft cheap if they HADN'T signed him are the same ones who are complaining they paid too much for him now. You know the guy with 20-20 hindsight.

First of all, this is a freakin' walk through and the media wants to make a big deal about who gets to stand around with whom on the practice field. I don't blame them because they have to write SOMETHING about a nothing practice, but WE are supposed to be intelligent consumers of the product, and we are taking it all so seriously

But let's take the worst-case scenario we all seem to like so very much. In our system it looks like we will be playing 3 safeties a lot in passing situation and as of this moment about halfway through camp those three guys are going to be Hawkins, Peppers, and Woodson. Those are the 3 guys who are playing the best at THIS point and time, and Duggar is the 4th What's wrong with that.

Duggar has proven in his first 3 years he can be an impactful S. what were those stats I saw? He averaged 100 tackles and 3 picks per season and was a force rushing the passer. Even at less than 100% of what he was those first 3 years, he is more than just quality depth at the position. Sure, if that's all he ends up being, he's over paid quality depth, but STILL a guy who you are going to need and makes you a better deeper defense.

This is nothing more than an interesting camp story. It's not a crisis or someone's blunder. Most would have agreed Duggar deserved a raise and got a market deal. It's just that the market was high and the guy got hurt.

Just another case of the 2nd guessers enjoying hearing themselves talke.
That same 20-20 guy will be complaining about being thin at SS the day after we move Dugger.

Almost like BB wanted to sabotage the franchise.
and gave us solid backups, the most free agent money in the NFL and a #3 pick each round. And all these contracts wer apporoved by the very cheap Kraft family.

Now, that is true sabotage.
======
ALL the contracts are fine for 2025, unless you think that the lack of 2025 cap money has prevented us from signing someone (I don't think so). ALL the contracts provide for reasonable exits (or extensions) after the 2025 season, and are reasonable as is if the players step up a lot in 2025.

Tbh majority felt we were overpaying dugger and again that's because as fans we have historically not seen us overpay much .

It started with sanu, AB and then agholor, Jonny, JuJu . Dugger performed well for us on rookie contract . So maybe this overpay evens out . Karma !!

Speculation: One thing Vrabel made clear Day 1 was removing entitlement from the building.

I have no idea if Dugger is "entitled" but if Vrabel thinks he is, this would be the way to remove it.
I'd say he was under the entitled category in terms of getting paid. In fact, there were a few posters that suggested to let him walk and sign a traditional FS. He had no business getting that contract he got. Wolf should've seen the memo from the league when no teams were interested in him. Signing him to the deal he got was absolutely wild. However, its a short term deal which isn't crippling the cap as they can't cut ties with him after this season.

With that said, Vrabel gave him a fair chance to play traditional S. He's already shown he can't and that's why he's getting passed up on the depth. This really shouldn't be surprising to anyone.

He's just not a traditional S and Vrabel is phasing out the "hybrids". The guy was getting spun in circles when his snap count went up and had to play deep. Bill absolutely wouldn't have paid Dugger what they did in 2024. One of the most idiotic contracts the Pats have handed out.

If they can't find a trade partner, this will be his last season as his dead cap is $14M and cap savings of $1M in 2025 to a dead cap of $4.5M and $12.5M in cap savings in 2026.
You mean to tell me Mayo wasn’t sure how to utilize Dugger? What a shock!

It sounds like Duggar made a mistake playing through his injury all last year. Vrabel is implying he has not fully recovered.

That’s what I respect about Captain Stone. He ****cans every player and doesn’t discriminate.
Except his binkies we didn’t draft. They’re never ever ****canned.

It sounds like he got sloppy in his play. And maybe a little complacent after getting paid.
“I think just making sure that he’s where he needs to be and understanding the coverage concepts and everything we do,” Vrabel said. “Keep working and keep progressing.“

You left off the beginning of Vrabel's statement. People generally list the most important items first then the less important items follow. You quoted the latter half of Vrabel's quote thereby missing the initial main point.

What I quoted was the very first part of what Vrabel was quoted as saying, in the article I used as my source. It was the one linked a couple of posts earlier. If there’s a more complete transcript I’d like to reference it, if you’ll please post the link.

FYI here is my source:

You are right. I was wrong. That is even worse for Dugger.

I give up, 2022 Duggers was a mirage
