Dugger is showing to be a massive overpay. I don't recall one team even inquiring about him after being tagged. Then the Pats paid him more than what the tag was worth while paying the better safety Peppers peanuts. Absolutely bizarre.
As his snap count has gone up to being the guy at S, his play has gone down. The losses of McCourty and Phillips when they still had some gas left in the tank are exposing him.

To be fair, I feel like the tag was an indicator to other teams that the Pats were willing to overpay, really cooling the market. Of course, he wasn't stellar in 2023, either, which compounded the problem.
I hope it pans out, but early returns are definitely rough. I really enjoyed watching him the first couple seasons...
Let's hope he's a "quiet leader." He sure is quiet anyway. He's probably a little overrated, frankly, but I don't supposethat has much to do with his being a good choice for the captaincy. Mix it all up and I'm left with, "Whatever," which I guess means I probably shouldn't have posted about it at all.
