So no, not too many 3rd and long

Yeah, it's been a long time since I felt like 3rd and 7+ yards is no big deal. I don't even get that concerned with 2nd and 15+ yards anymore.

2ish more 3rd and longs over the course of a season is really not cause for concern.

That is the money down. Converting 3rd downs moves the chains, keeps the defense fresh, and allows you to dictate the terms of the game. It does seem as though the Patriots have not converted these many 3rd and longs since 2017 maybe?
