I have seen interviews with different MVP voters over the years, and without actually saying it, they have alluded to voting for "new blood" so to speak. If Allen won the MVP in 2023, he doesn't win last year. I think voters felt he got the short stick from the year prior. So they kind of leaned toward him. There was also a fatigue imo where Lamar won two MVP's in like four years. I think Lamar deserved it last year.
This is how I think too. But do voters?
At the end of the day they are people and fans like the rest of us. They are supposed to be purely objective, but they most certainly are not. Case in point is some years when a guy wins the MVP that clearly isn't the favourite, and leaves the masses scratching their heads.
