I admit I have more reservations now than I did up to TC.
Even Mac Jones had people impressed his rookie camp with the ability to process and see this offense - what he lacked was fortitude, physical skill and leadership.
Maye may not have the innate ability to "see" this offense (proven by the missed wide-open opportunities in the Vikings game).
We hope JMD is starting with training wheels, and that's what we're seeing. Trusting that it may take 2 seasons to get to the full capacity of Maye in this offense. We'll have to be patient too.

And Mac Jones never had that. Never felt he was a leader. He said later he just wanted to be "one of the guys" and that cinched that thought for me.

Maye is TBD in that category.

Right. It was obvious that Jones was not that. Maye could go either way.

“Concerned” is a tough word. I never thought he was worthy of the #3 selection so my only “concern” is that I may have been right.
There were 6 QB's drafted, 5 or whom will probably be OK QB's in the NFL. We got one. I really don't care whether he was the best of the 6.

Mac Jones just didn’t have “it”. He was mentally soft
sure! Yes, we all agree.

Now, please remind us when we are in the playoffs this year, and when Maye has better stats this year than Jones had in his rookie year.

I tell ya this: I sure as hell would trade Maye for Dart if we could. Dart had the far, far better college career and looks more poised in the pocket already than Maye ever did.
Of all the QB's drafted in 2024 and 2025, I suspect Dart will be among the top three, probably #2.

Huh? Why in the world wouldn't you want the best of the 6?

I am not saying he is, but you should sure want him to be.

Hot take:

Maye is going to have a long career in the NFL... as a back up.

I'm quite disappointed nobody has responded to this.

Another point that just occurred to me is Maye is almost throwing to an entirely new crop of WR's aside from Pop who is also in a new system alone with the rest of the WR's and TE's. Only Bourne has experience with Josh and he hasn't been on the field since the first day of the Commanders week.

Right now our likely top WR's are Diggs, Hollis, Pop, Williams and Chism. All but pop is bew
Boutte and Henry are returning starters

Of course,

we want to have the best in the nfl at every position

We shall see when Game One starts.

Some think that our starters will be Diggs, Henry, Douglas and Hollins.

Boutte > barefoot Hollins.

If Hollins is playing more than Boutte I’m going to start to question Vrabels decision making, especially if some other decisions people are predicting also happen.

A bit anxious. As The Who warn us We Won't Get Fooled Again:
PS: Yes, I will!

On a scale of 1-10 my concern is at like, 3.5 or 4. Interested to see how he develops through the season, I anticipate it'll be rough the first few weeks and we'll get a better idea of him come November when the playoff picture starts coming together

He is a good qb. I hope hes really good and can lead the offense...

This will be his season to prove it or lose it.

That's a lot of pressure.

At a minimal he can stay in the league as back up... I was amazed at all the teams with no depth at qb this preseason.

Hence my post...

I wasn't sure if it was a joke to trigger posters or if you were serious. I do agree he's under more pressure than posters realize. He's got a solid veteran WR in Diggs, two solid TE's, and good stable of RB's. OL is the only concern. Defense is going to be a lot better this season.

If Mac Jones can be on a team that won 10 games his rookie season with McDaniels at OC, Maye should be able to match that as #3 overall selection with a way better team. We need to take his diapers off.

McKorkle being his name should have been our first clue.

Drake is a borderline name. Jaxson with an X is sure to fail.

Patrick, Lamar, Josh, Joe. Coleridge Bernard goes by CJ. Outside of 'Peyton' (and I'd still claim overall with all his hype, his career failed to meet expectations), the best of the best QBs tend to have semi-regular names at least.

Going back a long time but I thought U of Tenn legend Condredge Holloway had one of the coolest names for a QB.

When Josh Dobbs told the media he wanted to go by 'Joshua', that was the end.
