Here's Scott's statement:

"I am very honored to be granted the opportunity to discuss a potential position with the New York Giants. I have tremendous respect for the Kraft family, the Mara family, the Tisch family and the Giants organization. After careful consideration, and for personal reasons, I am continuing in my current role with the New England Patriots."

Where are the words "for now"?

I guess "continuing" gets everyone all excited.

FWIW, Wilcots claimed that the "for now" was in Pioli's response to the Giants, possibly different than his statement to the public.

But if all of these reports are just based on over-readings of Pioli's statements, they're not worth the pixels they're printed on. Until and unless there's actual evidence otherwise, I'm going with Tom Curran's take:

"Fans and the media lobby for loyalty. We skewer those multi-millionaires who’d run into traffic after a rolling nickel or slither on to their next "dream job.”
Yet when a guy decides to stay put for the reasons we deem noble, well, there has to be more to it. Doesn’t there?"

In other words, move along kids, nothing to see here.

Parcells would not ask for the Giants GM job (and turned down) the next day after Pioli's statement unless he had a very clear picture of his son-in-law's (Scott Pioli) intent in staying in N.E.?

Solomon Wilcots of NFL Sirius Radio says that there was a very 'strange' set of words made by Pioli after telling the Giants he was not interested in the job - Quoted as saying "I wish to remain with the Patriots organization FOR NOW"

Wilcots says Pioli is a very devoted man to BB and the organization and would never interfere with the teams playoff run and cause media attention.

He thinks the "FOR NOW" is likely meant that after the Patriots season has ended, talks will once again commence with the Giants..HMMM- Interesting thought by Solomon and a possibility,So don't put Pioli back in the FO till at least spring rolls around and hes still here.

After hearing Belichick on the NFL Sirius broadcast today when asked about Piolis decision to remain,He did not sound very positive or happy as to think there is maybe something in the works and Bill knows he won't be here - The waiting game begins.....

I'd like to know where Wilcots got the "FOR NOW" as part of Pioli's quote. The Reiss articlea and an article from the Sports Network did NOT mention that in their quote of Pioli.
