Solomon Wilcots of NFL Sirius Radio says that there was a very 'strange' set of words made by Pioli after telling the Giants he was not interested in the job - Quoted as saying "I wish to remain with the Patriots organization FOR NOW"

Wilcots says Pioli is a very devoted man to BB and the organization and would never interfere with the teams playoff run and cause media attention.

He thinks the "FOR NOW" is likely meant that after the Patriots season has ended, talks will once again commence with the Giants..HMMM- Interesting thought by Solomon and a possibility,So don't put Pioli back in the FO till at least spring rolls around and hes still here.

After hearing Belichick on the NFL Sirius broadcast today when asked about Piolis decision to remain,He did not sound very positive or happy as to think there is maybe something in the works and Bill knows he won't be here - The waiting game begins.....

Sounds like another reporter making something out of nothing.

I think he's staying. Everyone over-analyzes stuff just to have something to talk about. Solomon Wilcots is a blowhard. I thought what Pioli said translated into, "My wife likes New England and says she ain't movin'"

I hope he does stay,But stranger things have happened in the NFL...Remember Nick Saban,Just 2 months ago "I AM NOT LEAVING THE DOLPHINS"

Pioli is much more dedicated to his team than Nick could ever be but the possibility does remain,At least until shortly after the Pro Bowl when we hope we hear nothing more about the Pioli story-Quiet is good .

That would be interesting, if Pioli actually said "for now". The good news is he didn't and Wilcots is a moron, as usual.

Pioli statement:
"I am very honored to be granted the opportunity to discuss a potential position with the New York Giants. I have tremendous respect for the Kraft family, the Mara family, the Tisch family and the Giants organization. After careful consideration, and for personal reasons, I am continuing in my current role with the New England Patriots."

If thats true then Solomon is lying..I did not hear the Pioli statement in audio but read the same type statement you posted in the newspapers here in PA without the "FOR NOW" add-on.

I just think he's a moron, sorta like Merril Hodge, Shannon Sharpe, Deion Sanders etc. They don't know what the hell they're talking about and then they spout off opinions based on misinformation. In Sharpe's case, he's all but open in his hatred for the Patriots. His bias is clear.

Anyway, the statement in my post came directly from patriots.com so one can assume it's official. As a ravenous reader I haven't seen Pioli quoted at all in the Globe, Herald, espn.com, cnnsi.com etc. outside of the statement. I doubt he's given any additional radio or tv interviews either, but i'm not in the boston area.

Why does Sharpe hate us so much? - Was he not on the winning team most of the time his team played us? - He should thank us for those regular season wins

Personally as sports reporters/broadcasters I like..

Boomer Esiasson
Phil Simms
Sal Paolantano
Chris Collinsworth

OK, consider the alternative.

Pioli issues a statement that says, ""I wish to remain with the Patriots organization FOR NOW AND FOREVERMORE!"

Wilcots gets ahold of this and interprets it thusly:

"I think, given the strange, very strange wording of that statement, especially in light of events surrounding Nick Saban's denials prior to his departure at Miami, that this is persuasive evidence that Pioli will be joining the Giants as soon as the playoffs end for New England, if not sooner."

Gawd! I shoulda been a sportswriter!

Collinsworth is one of the few guys that actually offers insightful analysis. I think he's one of the best they have out there.

Aikman, Collinsworth, Simms are the three best announcers in my opinion.

collinsworth is one of the only smart ones willing to speak his mind.

Not a collinsworth fan.. I do like phil simms, and Aikman is not bad, Jaworski also is one of the very few bright people at espn..

This is stupid, he didn't have to release any kind of statement at all. All he would have had to say if he was leaving the door open was "this is not the appropriate time for this discussion". Adam Schefter was on WEEI yesterday and he said everyone did the same conjecture after Pioli turned down the Seattle job a couple of years ago. "Is he waiting for another job, possibly in NY" seemed to be the biggest rant. How about this, maybe the guy is happy!

OK, conspiracy theorists, what about this?

The Giants approach Scott Pioli for the General Manager position. But they can only do this because the General Manager of the Giants has final say over personnel -- unlike the General Manager of the Patriots where Bill Belichick has final say.

It is open, however, who will be the Head Coach of the Giants next season. One name mentioned is Bill Belichick, current Head Coach of the New England Patriots. But Belichick would not move from a position where he has final say to one where he is subordinate to Scott Pioli. On the other hand, he would want to have Scott Pioli as his right-hand man. So Pioli going to New York would preclude Belichick going to New York and posters like me who thought that the fact that Pioli is staying in New England means that Belichick will also stay may be wrong.

I hope (and believe) that the above is nonsense, but it makes more sense than the stupid interpretation given by Wilcots.

Adam Schefter of the NFL network on D&C yesterday said that he heard the Giants would fill the GM role within a week thus possibly before the next round of the playoffs which would mean that Pioli will not be their GM.

And from the "grassy noll" Oliver Stone has said that the Gaints are going to get both Belichick and Pioli. Belichick will become the GM and Pioli will become the HC.

They are tired of their positions with the Patriots and want to reverse roles. They love the Boston media so much that they want to step up and share love with the NY media.

Remember where you heard this first. And, they will fly down to NY after the SB in Black Helicopters.

Word has it that the Giants are going to extend Coughlin for one more year and promote their director of player personnel to the Giants GM position.

Adam shefter [sp?] on weei predicts the gm is going to hired in the next 2 days ..... and also parcel got the reject after piolli msg.I for one believe this move will not happen.
