Kyle Shanahan did indeed coach under his father with the Redskins. However, Gary Kubiak (his father's assistant coach at Denver) hired Shanahan prior to that to be the WR coach for the TexansKyle. And the McVays and the Grudens have a long history together, since John McVay and Jim Gruden worked together and became best buds, which led to Sean McVay's first two jobs being with Jon and then Jay Gruden.
