Or Danny Watkins with the sixtieth pick. The one concern being with his age. For this reason, he might have already reached his ceiling. He turns twenty-seven in November.

Compares to: Logan Mankins, Patriots -- While perhaps not an elite athlete, Watkins' prototype size, strength and nasty, physical play inside should make him an immediate contributor at the pro level despite having just four years of football experience. Like Mankins, Watkins could surprise as a late first-round pick.

Danny Watkins, Baylor, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

Why he's a fit for the Pats: Watkins appears to be a mix of Stephen Neal and Logan Mankins - he's played football for just four years, beginning when he walked on the team at Butte College in 2007, and he played left tackle in college but is projected as a guard and excelled at the position at the Senior Bowl - and he has a nasty streak. He has experience as a firefighter, which means he understands working on a team. Watkins and Florida's Mike Pouncey are the best of a thin guard class.

I don't expect Watkins to last very long past the first round. He'll most likely be the 2nd guard to go off the board. He'll get pushed down because of his age, and the value of other players/positions ahead of him, but not to 60.

Beat writer Greg A. Bedard thinks the Patriots' most likely target were they to move into the top-10 of the draft would be North Carolina DE Robert Quinn.

Bedard isn't reporting that this is something the Patriots are currently looking to do, just a possibility. Any time a team has as many draft picks as the Pats do this year, there will be speculation that they are looking to move up, but unless they are enamored with somebody, they'll likely stay put at No. 17 and No. 28 in the first round.

I'd love to see the Pats move up for Quinn. Looks like he could be a legit elephant in the 3-4.
