It’s almost unanimous that people are calling him the best deep thrower in the league now.
He is on track to set an all time NFL completion percentage record. There isn’t a throw he can’t make. We see rocket throws on in cuts, back shoulders and touch throws.

PS I am also a fan of THE Ohio State University and Julian Sayin is completing 80% of his passes, also higher than the All time record. I get to see incredible QB play from my teams on both Saturday and Sunday.

He's certainly on one right now. Let's see if he can do this for 3-4+ seasons.

Completing 3/4 of your throws is pretty crazy efficiency.

His ability to drop the ball softly in to his receivers hands is extraordinary. There are multiple a game where im shocked at the skill.

His pass clock has been awesome. He can feel the collapse coming and uses his legs to capitalize.

Once he gets more of a team around him, skys the limit.

Best arm or strongest?
Josh Allen has the strongest arm. Mahomes probably also above Maye. Herbert, Stafford, Mayfield, Jackson etc. next level probably where Maye lands.

Joe Milton, Anthony Richardson are not starters but on strength alone would win.

How many QB's have the arm strength but also great touch, can hit the short, medium and deep ball accurately? Maye is in the argument for sure.

His ball placement on downfield throws is unlike anything I've ever seen. I feel like Mahomes/Allen create a lot of plays downfield by scrambling and waiting for someone to free up on an open play where they're often times just heaving it up to a guy that's wide open at that point. Maye is throwing to COVERED guys downfield and completing them damn near every time. It's otherworldly.

And it's not like the talent around him is insane. I would say Diggs at this age and injury recovery timeline (still playing in the 50% for snaps) is definitely one of the bottom half of #1 WRs in the NFL. Boutte looks like a fine player but wouldn't say he's a standout by any means as a #2. Hollins is not a good #3. Henry might rank somewhat highly for TEs but he's clearly not in the top tiers and realistically the difference between the 10th TE and the 20th isn't that much. The RBs are average at best. Onwenu looks to be back to his very good but still less than pro bowl form and Campbell has been a day 1 sensation at LT. Other than hose two, I'd say Maye is playing with an offense of mostly average to a bit below average players for their role. The fact that they can say that across the board is actually pretty solid, but it's not like you can say he's being lifted up by the team around him either.

This is why Richardson & Milton won't be starters imo. These other traits are more important than arm strength imo.

Though I am curious how far Maye could throw it if he stepped into it. 70 yards? 75?

Agreed. How many QBs in the NFL can make that *perfect* floater throw to Diggs on the sideline that Maye completed yesterday?

I’m saying best.

His deep ball placement reminds me of prime Russell Wilson, it's wild.

Interesting question.

That TD to Boutte yesterday was 50 yards in the air, and almost overthrown. Did not look like Maye put everything he had into that throw either.

So that says his max range has got to be somewhere beyond 60. How far beyond is a good question.

The farthest I'd seen him on tape predraft (including pro day) was 65 air yds. Can expect it to easily be 70 if it was necessary.

Drake Maye, at the end of his career may go down as the most accurate passer in NFL history. That's how this video starts. Not the most entertaining video but fascinating insight as to why Darke Maye is so accurate (like in college despite the erroneous draft profiles).
I went back and watched a number of this guys video to see if he knew what he was talking about and he is very good. I also linked a second video which is a phenomenal analysis of why the average fan mis-rates QB's. A great exploration in that second video it why Herbert is better than Burrow and asks why Burrow is somehow "Joe Cool" when he sucks in clutch situations.
The Maye video explains something I've been wondering since I saw the things in college other QB's can't do. Like How he made that throw to Hollins in Saints game after tripping in the pocket, not having any feet on the ground as he threw a bullet with bullseye accuracy. Also explains why footwork is irrelevant. How he looks like he's flicking the wrist with no effort on deep balls. FYI, he expects Maye to peak at a better than in his prime Aaron Rodgers.

comical so many on here wanted to trade out of that pick
True, people also thought it was comical when I said I would offer 3 first round picks to move up and get Maye if we had to. 15 years of a top QB is worth a lot.
Luckily teams let him drop into out lap where even that Pats dysfunctional front office didn't screw it up.

Maye still occasionally sails one. And i do wonder about that. Is he leaning too much on his arm and his mechanics aren't exactly perfect, but he makes up for it with power and touch? I'm curious. Right now though it's hard to say whose better than him. He can make all the throws, has top tier touch, and his speed isn't bad. The only throw i haven't seen him do at an incredibly level is an absolute dart into closing coverage. Maybe cause he doesn't think his WRs can catch it or maybe it isn't in the arsenal? But he can get it in there fast for sure. His arching over the top throw is a thing of beauty though.

Strongest has never meant as much to me. Like the basketball player who can jump the highest. "Yeah but can he play the game"?

For me the ball placement and those throws along the sideline cannot be denied at this point. Hes dropping it in the perfect spot only his guy can catch. Consistently. Pocket presence and ability to move up and then run when its there.

Lastly, I love how when it's NOT there instead of lobbing up a sure pick like most young QBs he runs out of bounds or throws it over the benches to preserve rhe ball. He's cerebal too.

Arm strength- maybe not THE strongest but is anyone concerned he wont get it to his receivers quickly or far downfield? No.
