Do you want Cassel to be our starting QB?

  1. Yes!

  2. No!

O'Connell just isn't ready. If people are satisfied with tanking the season to develop O'Connell, then I say go for it. But the guy came into this league with tons of raw talent, but horrible mechanics. At this point, O'Connell is not an upgrade over Cassel. Maybe in a month or two he may be, but I find it hard to believe he has corrected all his mechanics problems at this point in the season.

Like it or not, Cassel is the best chance for the Pats to win at this point.

    I got an idea.

Cassel starts and he plays until he has a drive does end in a TD or FG. Then O'Connell goes in. O'Connell plays until he has a drive that doesn't result in a score. Once O'Connell has drive that doesn't result in a score Gurtz goes in. Gurtz plays until he has a drive that doesn't end in a score. At which time Cassel goes back in. Cassel plays until he has a drive that doesn't result in a score. etc.

Regardless of whether or not you're making a joke, there is a serious flaw with that plan--unless the Pats carry all three on the 45-man roster. Namely, if the emergency QB enters the game for any reason prior to the start of the fourth quarter, no QB on the 45-man roster can re-enter the game, period.

So we carry all three on the 45 man roster. If I read this board correctly there is nothing more important to the success of this team than benching a QB immediately after any poor performance of the offense.

Cassel will most likely remain the starting QB. Definitely not my choice (I mean who wouldn't want to pick up Joe Montana in his prime or rewind to week 1 and prevent that shot from happening), but I don't think O'Connell can do any better with this group playing the way it is.

Personally I don't want to see O'Connell in yet. Might get killed back there.

    Does it matter?

No, it doesn't matter. Nor does anything else we post here. We do it for fun.

Yes we do it for fun....We as fans on a sports board do not know anything on what BB and his coaching staff are thinking.

All I can think of is it is going to be a long week for everyone in the Patriots Organization with a lot of reviewing of this game and practice on plays that went horribly wrong.

Let the Kevin O'Connell era begin. Let him start this week at home against a piss-poor Denver defense.

The look on Rodney Harrison's face last night after the game and his comments spoke volumes about how deflating it was that Cassel could not punch that ball in the endzone. This team has no confidence in him and it's spilling over into every facet of the football team.

Time for a change, let's do it now before it's too late.

I totaly agree with you. Matt is going to go through growing pains and from what I saw he had some bright spots. Right now he is he best we got.

Cassel just doesn't show much raw talent and it's obvious. You can't compare Brady's early games to Cassel's. Brady showed glimpse's of brilliance while Cassel...well, what you see is what you're gonna get.

Obviously I'd rather have Brady as the starting QB! :p

I voted no, but what choice do I or We have?
He is our starter until BB says otherwise or until next year when Tom comes back.

For now, yes. He played last night without a running game and with a weak O line. Maybe he could have avoided a couple of sacks and rushes by getting rid of the ball faster, but he wasn't getting much help. Also, a porous secondary had him behind the eight ball all night. He's no Tom Brady, but I'm not ready to pull the plug; nor, I suspect, is BB.

yes Wendel, the people have clearly spoken.

WE are not the coaching staff so our little wants and desires on this web site mean NOTHING.

So you can keep this little victory to yourself.

Not if the OL is going to continue its level of play - if there's not going to be much pass protection I don't see the point of keeping a pocket passer in there... better to go with O'Connell who is able to do more than Cassell on the scramble and make things happen.

But that's saying more about the OL than about Cassell. In a perfect world the OL consistently does their job and he has the time to make his reads and complete passes.

In that situation, I want Cassell.

    O'Connell is my cousin.

Talking on the phone with him the other day, he said that BB will most likely play him against the Colts. Look for him there.
