I meant the first two rounds. Even the 3rd round is pushing it. They have spent a lot of money on two DT's, drafting another within the first 3 rounds with pressing needs on offense is just hoarding. You don't want to go the route of the NY Jets, Redskins, Jaguars and Denver Broncos where they kept collecting the same defensive players with nothing to show for it.

What happened to BPA? This is an excellent draft for DT's and EDGE rushers.

I would say it is more of a need based on Barmore. If he’s good to go then I’d look more in the 4th/5th. DT is pretty deep this year. I’m just not comfortable counting on CB. Blood clots worry me.

Edge rusher I'm fine with because that's a need, but DT could backfired badly. As I mentioned before, it comes to a point where you can't go BPA if you're already set at a certain position. When BB took Joejuan Williams in 2019 in the 2nd round, how was he going to get on the field when they already had Gilmore and Jason McCourty as the starters, JJ in the slot and the up and coming JC Jackson? WR and TE was a dire need. The teams I listed previously kept taking the same players over and over again and it hurt the team overall. If you keep drafting for BPA and he turns out to be a dud, you now have a need at that position while you still have other needs you neglected. I'm fine with taking a chance in the 4th round, but the Pats have to prioritize T and WR early. If you have to trade up to get your guy, so be it.

I don’t see dial and bolden as nfl caliber players at this stage. Perhaps they could develop but we are one injury away from them being the primary backup to 3 starters. We need to bring in a veteran.

Think you right as the only knock on Davis has been health.. I believe yes, we should look to add another veteran.. but I see Austin as the first guy up in an Injury situation to a starter. Dial showed abilities late last season and will only project to get better as a late round pick.

If a Darien Porter falls to Round 3 you run to the podium. Otherwise I'd wait until the 7th to snag an AJ Huzzie or Bihal Kone

The good defensive tackles will be gone by the 4th round. If they want a good one they will need to take one on day 2.

I'm not sure I follow the point you're making here. How is this any different than drafting players a player who turns out to be a dud at the need area? I don't understand the distinction you're making. Need is obviously something you have to weigh to some extent because you need a path to develop the player, but at the end of the day, as you're highlighting here, if you draft a guy who's a dud you still have a need. Drafting whatever position doesn't actually fill the need if the guy's a dud. Draft is hardly an exact science so it's all projection and very variable. The further down the draft board you reach on account of needs, the more risk you have of that guy being a dud. By definition you're taking someone you think is more likely to be a dud via you having them ranked lower as a prospect. And if they do dud, then you're still left with all the same needs.

Dial is a nobody. Late picks have way more likelihood to never contribute than to get better.

If we don’t bring in corners because we are counting on this guy we are screwed.

True. I was just of the mind that he's already here.. he will like everyone else have the opportunity to compete.. yes bring in some veterans, and UDFA as well. Let everyone compete ans carve out a role for them.

If Davis were to miss time as he can be injury prone.. Austin is the next man up.. we have some guys for depth.. and I'm sure we will add more in the later rounds and UDFA... we have some guys with size.. dial is 6ft, Bolden is 6ft, Austin is 6ft..

Definitely need one or 2 more guys. I think this can come from mid round picks. Maybe one vet one rookie. But we have the top 3 so not too worried.

I feel like Marcus could really thrive as the slot CB where he's best suited.. I expect him to miss time at some point during the season.. so if we could have a good slot/ depth guy would be great. We have great size at outside CB.. gonzo, Davis ,Austin, dial, bolden are all 6'1
