Do we have the worst WR corps in the NFL

No. 49ers have a worse corp. But if/when Amendola goes down, we may soon find out...

Our number 1 is Danny Amendola, probably the most unproven, injury prone # 1 WR in the NFL

Our number 2 is an undrafted, unproven NFL ROOKIE K Thompkins

Our number 3 is julian edelman, a well below average WR, a huge downgrade

Our number 4 is Aaron Dobson. Loaded with potential but only a ROOKIE, unproven, and he cannot even beat out Julian Edelman? :bricks:

Look at the WR corps Peyton Manning has, blows our WRs corps away

So I take it you'd gladly trade with the Raiders or Jets.

If they are capable of getting open and catching passes that lead to wins, I don't care.

I will indulge. Look at manning's WR's and RBs and TE o line in 2003-2004 and compare our receivers then too. Not much of a difference.

I have been accused of that myself.

Kraft always slurs his speech a bit (so there probably is some underlying speech impediment), but since the slurring is a lot more noticeable and intense after games (especially big ones), I for one am convinced he gets pretty sloshed at games.

After AH and his undoing, the only thing that concerns me is Thompkins and his past...

He comes from the "thug life" and will he regress... hopefully not, and he values what he has and surround himself with law abiding folks.

Many folks have overcome great odds, and hopefully he chooses to do this..

Kenbrell Thompkins rescues himself from woes | Boston Herald

Thompkins couldn’t have arrived at that moment had he chosen a different route out of his Miami neighborhood Liberty City, his hardscrabble childhood home, and one that too frequently draws youth into drugs and violence, often leaving them dead or in jail.
Years before Thompkins turned his life around, he became familiar with the latter. He was arrested seven times prior to his 19th birthday and kicked out of high school three times before graduating.

I can't really speak on the small thread/major banning list thing, but I'd suggest that you occasionally take the time to re-read the "Trade Brady" thread. It's essential Patsfans.com history, IMO.

Sadly, by game 2 in 2008, Ian had to consolidate those threads as there were multiples. Are you referring to the 'official' thread with 60 or so pages? From a brief review of that, despite the length of the thread, the postings therein and the subject matter, there were far too many survivors for my liking. I offered a single post and bailed - it was just too traumatic for me. For the sheer horror, I might offer the more general 'Gettysburg' label for that discussion.

If we end up having the worst receivers in the league, even if Tebow has to throw to them I will kiss the Easter Bunnies Patoot on the 50 yard line at half time during the last home game of the year. :clap2:

Is that Captain Stone on the right?

Only joking Cap'n, you know I love ya!

Is that Dennis Hopper? I wonder what movie that is.

As for the Pats WRs, I hope that the rooks don't all hit The Wall at the same time.

I also hope that Quentin Sims is signed to the PS; he looked pretty good last night,
especially compared to Dobson, who didn't look good last night, at all.

I think we can all agree that the unproven and untested WR corps as a whole is the weakest link in the Patriots offense, but to say it's the worse in the NFL is hyperbole. The Jets are still in the NFL last I checked.

Actually until Gronk comes back the weakest link would be tight ends IMO.

But I will say what I say every year ... Belichick never builds the team to come roaring out of the gate. He builds a team that he can further refine and usually by around weeks 6-8 we see what his vision was and the team plows ahead.

I disagree with that a bit.

In 2001, the offense was very predictable. Short pass to Troy. Short pass to Givens. Short pass to Troy.

Throwing to Givens in 2001 really would have been unpredictable considering he was playing for Notre Dame at the time.

Hernandez entered the league as the NFL's youngest player.

Thompkins is already older than Sudfeld, who is already older than GRONK.

The 2003 offense was predictable too. Hence why the Pats had the worst third down percentage of Brady's career that year. They couldn't convert third downs for the life of them.

I think 2002 and 2004 had fairly unpredictable offenses, but that was because in 2002 no one expected what they got out Brady and in 2004 the Dillon factor allowed the Pats to utilize the play-action far more.

And still don't think the offense has become nearly as predictable as people say it is. In fact, this offense stalls far more often because McDaniels tries to get too unpredictable with some trick plays that take too long to develop.

At times it may look predictable because designed plays to say an Ochocinco ends up becoming a short pass to Welker because Ocho can't get open and Brady goes to his security blanket. I think it is the lack of trust in receiver and poor receivers that has hurt the unpredictability in recent years because the only guys getting open are same dependable receivers.

Beside, I find unpredictability overrated. The best way to totally take a defense out of their game is when they know what is coming and you run it over and over again and they can't do anything to stop it. You ask any defensive player and they will tell you that is far worse than having no idea what is coming before the ball is snapped.

Personally, I can't think of many or possibly any games where the Pats have lost because they were too predictable. Maybe the SECOND Giants Super Bowl because the Pats only really had Welker and Hernandez as receivers. I know people say the first Giants' Super Bowl, but the Pats threw the entire playbook at the Giants in that game but they were so dominant at the line of scrimmage that it didn't matter.

Givens wasn't around in 2001. I'm just pointing that out because I'm curious who you have him confused with.

That is what is scary who will be the Wide receiver, will injuries hurt the receivers, who has chemistry with Brady.

We will win the East but lose in first round again, too bad.

It's a British TV comedy from the seventies called Dad's Army.

I think he means David Patton...

PJ, Rob may have been thinking of David Patten. He came up big for them a whole bunch of times that year.

Rob's point is well-taken. On paper, that group of WRs and TEs that year didn't have anyone close to as talented as Amendola or Gronk, and I say that as someone who regards Troy as being ine of my top 5 favorite Pats (Brady, Tedy, Troy, Tippett, and Grogan). This year's offense looks to me to be the most balanced one they've had since SB39, and as much as I've loved what they've done on offense since then (how the hell can you not love some of the best scoring offenses of all time?), I've felt for some time that more balance is crucial come playoff time, so I'm pretty optimistic about this development.
