Division Round Opponent: Chiefs, Titans or Bills

There is no comprehension issue. I get exactly what you are saying and I have a different take, that is all.

Even the game from a couple days ago against NYJ consisted of him missing guys in stride that would have netted big gains in the passing game. This has nothing to do with Hogan/Mitchell/Burkhead/White or whomever else was absent IMO.

So "since Oakland" has now changed into last game at rare, freezing temperatures there were a couple of throws. Ok then..

  1. Stop expecting perfection. It's never happened.
  2. His numbers would have looked a lot better, and he'd have hit more receivers in stride, if the receivers weren't running the wrong routes, dropping easy catches, slowing down on routes, etc...
  3. Yes, timing issues on throws would, actually, have to do with WRs who are absent.

You don't have to agree with me. This is just my take. You may have a point with the windy weather being a factor. It could also be a combination of many things including inaccuracy (by his standards).

But seriously, it can be both things--issues with the team and Brady not being quite himself.

The ironic thing is that on some level those people that say he is clearly hurt because the stats are so bad are essentially Brady homers that think the only reason for him to play at times below his usual level is because of injury. No, he is as human as any other athlete and if you decrease the margin for error around him he will have bad throws as anyone else. Even when healthy.

You mean that throw slightly behind Cooks had something to do with WRs who weren't there? I'm not expecting perfection, nor am I going to ignore a 5 game sample size where he's been slightly off by his standards overall.

Clearly, you are.

There is no 5 game sample size. You claiming there is kind of makes my point.

It's not a 5 game sample. It's a 1 game (Miami II) sample, when you're actually evaluating Brady's overall game. As for the rest:

  • Brady's QB rating against Pittsburgh, minus the INT: 102.3
  • Brady's QB rating against Buffalo I, minus the bogus INT: 99.5
  • Brady's QB rating against Buffalo II: 106.8
  • Brady v. Jets, we had Cooks slow down on what would have been a long yardage TD pass, we had Cooks drop a screen pass, we had Dorsett drop an easy catch for good yards, we had Amendola break wrong on one pass, and a WR break wrong on what became the intentional grounding call

1 pass (Pitt) plus 1 bad non-call (Buffalo I) plus WRs not doing their jobs (Miami II)

There's a difference between "Brady's not racking up 125+ QB ratings" and "Brady's been off".

I’m guessing it’s his achilles that’s causing him accuracy issues. Hopefully 2 weeks of rest will help.

What accuracy issues?

Comp % in the past 5 games (Since that was Drewski's "sample size"):

70
56
63
75
49

3 of those 5 games are well within acceptable limits. The last one (49) is largely a product of lousy WR play, as I pointed to earlier. That leaves the Miami game, which everyone acknowledges as a bad game for Brady.

I think having the full 2017 complement (Burkhead, White, Hogan) with the ones who played week 17 will greatly help those 'accuracy issues'

Tom Brady's career completion percentage: 63.9
Tom Brady's completion percentages, 2010 - 2017:

65.9
65.6
63.0
60.5
64.1
64.4
67.4
66.3

The fact that Bills made playoffs is huge for their franchise. If we do face them it's going to be a dog fight. No matter how familiar we are with them and vice versa, if they do get to divisional round, they will play out of their mind. That's not to say we won't be prepared but it'll one heck of game.

Titans, I think, will be the easier opponent of them all.I don't care much about beating quality teams in playoffs to get to and win superbowl. Winning is all that matters.

We beat Chiefs last year and got embarrassed to say the least in week 1 at home this season. I don't think we lost to the same team twice in the same season in the past.I could be wrong.

Titans
Chiefs
Bills
would be the order for me.

NE did not play KC last season (regular or post).

Off the top of my head: Super Bowl 46, AFCCG in Denver at end of 2015 season, Divisional Playoff loss to Jets after 2010 season..there might be others.

doesn't matter which team comes here to get stomped

KC is by far the biggest threat.

that being said, I want to beat them badly. 2 losses in a row don't sit well to me

EDIT: Forgot 2015

Could not disagree more. They are a mess. And Smith and Reid are habitual chokers in big games. Jags are the kind of team that is built to beat the Pats.

Seriously? Their point differential was 10 ppg this year. They very well may win the SuperBowl, but there are too many injuries this year to be confident of playoff blowouts. We aren't that kind of team this year

The Patriots will handle any of the three, but IMO Tennessee is least capable of hanging in the game enough to make us uncomfortable (not enough weapons on either side of the ball), followed by Buffalo (no reliable offense), then followed by Kansas City (suspect defense but good team speed and a patient QB).

No, I'm not saying we should fear KC, just that they do offer some matchup issues that give them big play capabilities.

Jags are much better, but I am thinking only one game ahead.

Jags just lost to the freaking Titans....

You can't look at full year stats. When this team was the healthiest it had been all season, they were definitely blowing teams out. The disastrous start to the season also brings down that point differential per game.

By all accounts, Hogan, Branch, and possibly even Mitchell should be ready for the playoffs. KVN will have a couple of weeks to get even healthier, and they just added a key piece on defense in Harrison.
