one great preseason performance, as many have observed, against a team that didn't seem prepared isn't that big a deal, but it sure does go in the "plus" column.

BTW, am i the only one who noticed that Tampa's QB's seemed to be able to run pretty openly if they weren't sacked or didn't throw rushed passes and managed to break containment? is that a cause for concern or something the pats will fix in practice before they face guys like Vick and Big Ben?

Belichick actually mentioned that to Zolak during his after the half interview on the sideline.

I think any scheming the Pats did was relegated to Tampa's first string, but the damage was pretty minimal.

True but those were other teams starters that were looking silly...not just scrubs.

Donald Penn is considered a pretty good tackle(pro bowler also) and Carter just punked him. Preseason or not that means something.
But what it means is Carter had a pretty good half of football in a preseason game. It doesnt mean Carter has suddenly become a guy no one can block.
These are the Patriots. We have many games each season that aren;'t very competitive.
Carters a nice player. If we learned something its that he isn't over the hill yet, not that he is going to be better this year than he ever has before.
Perhaps thats not what you are saying, but your post implies no LT will have a chance at blocking Andre Carter this year. My apologies if I misunderstood.

Our run D was dominant and if any opponenent we face is depending on their QB as their main back there in big trouble.

Tampa Bay's RB's came up with an anemic 25 yards on 11 carries.

We blitzed a lot. I assume that was more to work on the blitz packages than to game plan what would be effective in a preseason game.
The drawback to blitzing a mobile QB is that they will run all day if you don't get to them.
