Detroit Lions hire Jim Caldwell as HC

The thing that sucks is that the Ravens might now get a competent OC.

I actually think it is more accurate to say they have talented players on both sides of the ball, but a lot of holes too.

Including, apparently, a lot of ***holes.

Caldwell will finally get a HC gig with normal odds. He's not walking in to a situation where he's already got a top tier team, and he's not being dealt the likes of Curtis Painter.

George Siefert part 2. Awful, awful hire. Wisenhunt on the other hand deserved a second shot.

Like George had success with a team someone else built and he inherited couldnt coach his way out of a wet paper bag.

The lions have top tier talent

Stafford is a 5k throwing qb

Calvin johnson is in the top 2 of WR

Reggie bush is a top10 back when it comes to all purpose yards

The defense has one of the best dlines in football.

they are 1 or two pieces and discipline away from being a Superbowl favorite.

The lions have top tier talent

Pretty much every team has top tier talent.

Stafford is a 5k throwing qb

.... with a host of problems that need to be fixed

Calvin johnson is in the top 2 of WR

Johnson's the best WR to play in the NFL since Moss, so sure...

Reggie bush is a top10 back when it comes to all purpose yards

No, and the moment you used the qualifier you knew you were just tossing this out. C'mon now.

The defense has one of the best dlines in football.

.... yet that line is one of the team's biggest problems.

they are 1 or two pieces and discipline away from being a Superbowl favorite.

I think you're being way too generous with the 1 or 2 pieces thing. The Lions are a mid-tier football team. If they can straighten out the QB, drill some sense into Suh and Fairley, improve the secondary and linebackers, toughen up the offensive line and tight ends, and get another WR or two, then we'll be looking at a top tier team.

With apologies to "Shank": the Lion are the team of the future, and they always will be.

"Coach, did you hear who the Lions hired?" WAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Detroit…the Jets of the NFC North

They WISH they could attain the status of the Jets of the NFC North. The Jets have actually won a playoff game in the last 20 years or so.

idk who's worse..him or leslie fraizer

I do but...wow

Once again the Lions dropped the ball. For all the complaining people do about the Pats on here, be thankful you are not a Lions fan. That's the fan base who has every right to complain.

Wow...these all look the same as his "Clueless, dumbfounded, and bewildered" looks...which are the most common looks for him......HORRIBLE SIGNING here...Lions woes continue

Prior to the Colts, Caldwell had only one other head coaching stint, and it didn't go too well.

"For the 1993 season, he was hired as Wake Forest's head coach. Amazingly, he remained in place at Wake Forest through the 2000 season despite not having any real success outside of one year. His time at Wake Forest began with records of 2-9, 3-8, 1-10, 3-8, 5-6 and 3-8. Finally, in 1999, Caldwell led the Demon Deacons to a 7-5 record and a win in the Aloha Bowl. However, Wake Forest went 2-9 the next season, and he was fired after amassing a 26-63 record over the course of eight seasons." -- SB Nation
