Dennard out for week 4 at KC Chiefs

All the plays where Ryan got beat on by Streater/Holmes were man to man.

No because Revis doesn't have a history of inconsistent play.

I don't know each play (can't remember each one), but I don't know if I can trust your evaluation since you consider a 4 reception, 61 yard performance a horrible game. Especially since the Raiders did next to nothing on offense. They had three of nine drives go 50 yards or more and only one was more than 50 yards (a 57 yard drive) and another of the 50 yard drives came on a bogus 24 yard PI call.

Also, the Raiders passed 34 times and you are condemning Ryan based on 4 passes. What happened the other 30 passes.

unleash the gronk.

I sure hope so. Having some nice, long sustained drives always goes a long way towards helping both sides of the ball.

Supposedly, there are some rumors that Gronk is expected to play more this week--so hopefully we see some improvement from him and a return to health.

Even when David Carr was "looking like Peyton" last week (not really, but according to some of the media) we still only allowed like 175 yds passing and 3 FGs.

I'm sure the other team will make plays, yes. As long as we're ahead at the end, I really don't care.

The Raiders' longest drive was 57 yards. Early in the game, the Raiders had several drives that had a lot of plays, but few yards which gave a lot of people the perception they were moving the ball. They had a 13 play 50 yard drive, an 8 play 26 yard drive, and 7 play 29 yard drive. Lots of plays, not a lot of yards.

the chiefs are missing many players on defense, if we can't score on them then i give up.

The one and only thing that I did not care for on the defensive side of the ball was Revis' somewhat mediocre to poorer type of showing, giving up 5/7 with a defensive pass interference penalty to boot.

Even that is nitpicking on some level, since we know it's not much to be concerned about moving forward, but there weren't really any other aspects that I was worried about defensively. I thought we did great for the 2nd game in a row on that side of the ball.

You do realize that the Pats have the #1 pass defense in the league? I know the Pats haven't faced a murder's row of QBs by any stretch of the imagination, but that tells me the guy hasn't played horrible very much at all this year.

I don't get why you would be scared. Because of what he did his rookie season? Because of the BS PI call he got at the end of the game last week?

Cough,
Tannahill
Cassell
Carr

They should have the #1 rated pass defense after those three. Unless another team has already played the Jets, twice.

Ryan is awful, I was hoping for Dennard. Either way this is his last week starting. Hopefully they can pull out another win. They really haven't looked good all season. Hopefully this is the week the real TFB shows up.

To me that's pretty bad considering the offense they were playing. The raiders have the worst offense in the league.

And they held them to numbers that, if they were your average for the whole year, would be far and away the #1 ranked in the league:

9 points allowed (1st)
174 Passing yards (technically 2nd in the league, but since #1 is the Patriots, I'm going to give it to them)
241 Total yards (1st)

You can't play the "but look at who they played" card if they held them to league leading numbers. You can't reasonably ask for more than that.

I didn't say the defense played bad, I said Ryan played bad. He didn't have competitive coverage against receivers that aren't big time.

The Pats can only play who they face, but the Pats are #1 or #2 in almost every passing defense category and some by a ton.

To say Ryan is awful is ridiculous. He was all over Corderalle Patterson two weeks ago. The Pats have given up one of the fewest passing plays over 20 yards and have only given up 3 passing TDs. If Ryan was awful, he would be giving up huge passing plays and TDs against even bad QB. All you have to do is look at Pats' CBs of the past who would give up huge passing plays to QBs who were barely starters.

Says you. And on four plays which two of them were 8 yards or less. If what you are saying is correct and he was responsible for all the passes that Streater and Holmes got, he gave up passing plays of 29, 14, 9, and 9 yards.

And if he was playing off man on those plays, he wouldn't have had competitive converage because he would have been playing to keep the play in front of him. So even by your analysis, he had two bad plays in 34 passes.

And if he was playing off man on those plays
He wasn't. They were all press man and he gave them all up on big 3rd downs.

BTW, I just looked at the game log and one of Streater's catches was to the right side of Carr and the Pats did not have Revis following a receiver until later in the game. So one of Streater's catches was on Revis. So I don't think you actually rewatched each play:

(7:44) (Shotgun) D.Carr pass short left to R.Streater ran ob at NE 41 for 9 yards.
(6:35) D.Carr pass short right to R.Streater ran ob at NE 27 for 9 yards.

Both plays were on the Raiders' second drive in the first quarter when the Pats were still playing a lot of zone defense.

And look at my last post. I don't trust your analysis at all. Streater got a 9 yard pass on Revis' side of the field which you credit to horrible coverage by Ryan.

Or are you arguing Ryan have a horrible game because he let Streater have two catches for 23 yards and Holmes have one catch for 29 yards?

What are you talking about? I never said every single one of Streaters catches was on Ryan. I said every catch Ryan gave up in man coverage was from Streater and Holmes.

I think Ryan will be fine, hes a good player and the Chiefs are overrated I think. Plus with the rotation of him, Arrington and Butler I think we are good. Lets just hope the offense lights it up. I expect a good game from Edelman, Thompkins, and Dobson. Maybe even Amendola

Ok, so let me get this straight. You are arguing that Ryan was horrible because he burnt on three plays for 52 yards (only one being over 15 yard). Good thing Ryan went to Rutgers or Belichick would have cut him after a pitiful performance like that.

Seriously, do really read what you are stating? I don't care who the QB is, if you give up three plays for 52 yards is not a horrible performance. You might argue it could be better, but no matter who the QB was it isn't a horrible performance.

And? Last year D or years before D would have given up 27+ point to Min and Oak. ****ty teams always were able to score and move the ball at will on them. Hasn't been the case this year

All you have to do is look at Pats' CBs of the past who would give up huge passing plays to QBs who were barely starters.

Dan Orlovsky, Rex Gross, Jason Campbell, Matt Moore, Matt Flynn, Mark Sanchez, Chad Henne, Vince Young, Colt McCoy, Ryan Fitzpatrick and probably a few others all looked like top 10 QBs in the league against the Pats in the last 3-4 years.

next Sunday Night will be fun. We'll see if this defense really is amongst the elite or if it's just bad teams. Like others have said Tannehill, Cassel, and Carr would have lit this defense up for 350+ yds and 3 touchdowns the past couple of years (with the beginning of last season being an exception).
