Demario Douglas

Douglas has not been the first read so unless they gameplan to make Chism a focal point, I don't know what it does to start him over Douglas.

It's been our RBs and TEs, which is not surprising in McDs offense.

Simple answer he fights for that first down.

I've been a pop fan and I want to believe he can still pull out of this slump but let's not hold down Chiz either. Nevermind just Pop but as group they've all been underwhelming I guess Boutte aside (but even he's mostly just been one game).

Maybe week 4 is too soon but at some point you just for the sake of it you have to consider giving more reps to Williams and Chiz.

That play looks terrible and it is going to define him for a long time.

The offense has gone up and down the field the last two games so I don't know why they would change anything.

If they were going 3 and out for the last two games, yeah change something. Moving the ball has not been an issue and if not for the bonehead plays today we score 30+ again.

They should focus on ball security.

Maye targeting anyone but Douglas is completing 77.3% of his passes.
Targeting Douglas 38.4%

Slot receivers are supposed to have the highest % because they are short routes, easy throws.

Douglas appears to be the problem.

We're too quick to get rid of our guys lately. Demario made an error there but he was also trying to avoid an oncoming tackler who had him dead to rights.

Saw Hjalte Froholdt, Mack Wilson, Jabril Peppers & now Tyquan Thornton have good games today.

We need to stop declaring players useless and chucking them the second they do something wrong.

I am a fan of Rham Stevenson, and this may not apply to him at all anymore, because the truth is you simply cannot trust a RB who repeatedly fumbles, and if you can't trust him, then what?

I suppose he can be utilized as a 3rd down back now, blocking pass rushers and catching passes.

Good thing we dumped Thornton so we could hang on to Douglas, Polk, baker, Bourne last year.

I don’t think Pop is a bad player, there have been times where’s he’s been open and Maye just misses him. It was a bad play on his part to end the game though, just turn it upfield get the 1st and move on.

Why does Maye only miss him? Is he running the wrong route, or running it the wrong way?
If the Qb is pretty much league best accurate throwing to everyone else but not to you, it’s probably you.

He's definitely struggling to find his footing.

However the Patriots lost four fumbles and an interception. It's pretty hard to win if you cough the ball up five times.
Failing to convert fourth down is another turnover. Really they coughed the ball up six times with that.

It might be on Pop, but like I said there have been times Mayes flat out missed him when open, it happened again this game. Lazar had brought up a good point on his pod, Pop is a small dude, Maye isn’t super accurate, it could just be a bad fit better the two of em.

We are choosing Maye sorry Pop.

Some like myself have been harping on that: but some was brushing it off as nothing. The chicken come home to roost.

Maye is at or close to leading the NFL in completion percentage. He’s at an nfl record completion percentage to everyone other than Douglas.
He is about the most accurate QB in the NFL.
If the receiver runs the wrong route, or runs it incorrectly a perfect throw looks missed, but that’s not the qb, it’s the route.
Maye is top 5, or top 10 in virtually every passing category. He also leads the team in rushing and rushing TDs. Why do people want **** on the teams best player to cover for a guy who has produced a total of 13 yards on 13 targets and just made the bonehead play of the year to end the game?

Maye completed 77.4% of his passes to everyone not named Douglas.
The NFL record for a single season is 74.4%. Anyone blaming Maye simply doesn’t know what they are talking about.
If Maye threw the ball into the stands instead of to Douglas it would cost us 13 yards in 3 games.

That can be attributed to $hitty Coaching from that BB $5 regime. Which spilled over in Mayo's very short stint.

Douglas Needs to be Benched: even Tarzan Mack Hollins have more yards. What does that tell you. It's obvious Maye is not the problem.

It's quite an interesting point.

First I would point out it's not only him he's had high throws to a varried number of WRs.

But I would agree there definitely seems to be an added disconnect between Pop and Drake right now that isn't there with some of the other guys or at least not as drastic.

And to your point I think a vast majority of that is on Pop's shoulders. I will point out 2 plays in my memory that I think were pretty much all on Drake though. First he under threw him in the ground a yard or 2 short on a simple screen that actually looked pretty open. Nothing Pop could do. And then there was a crossing route where Drake threw it well behind him again pretty clearly seemed to be on Drake.

Didn't realize it was that drastic.

Where's the advanced analytics department when you need them lol.
