I think it’s a tougher call than it looks. The 2018 Rams offense is by no means as good as the GSOT but they were still a great offense and to hold them to 3 points with today’s rules is unbelievable.

Pats were huge underdogs in 36, stunned the world. Pats were slightly favored in 52, but, how the game played out stunned too.

Still SB XXXVI. Going into that game, the expectation was that the GSOT would anihalate the Patriots. To hold them to 17 points was quite a feat. This Rams team, albeit explosive, doesn't hold a candle to the 01 Rams.

Holding an explosive offense to 3 points in an era where defense is generally discouraged is more impressive

Regardless of the opponent, holding a super bowl team to 3 is the greatest defensive performance of all time. The rams were no slouch either, they did score 30 and 26 in the other playoff games, and we already know they scored 500 points in the regular season.

With all the things that can go wrong in a game, holding this team to 3 points is the greatest feat ive seen by a defense/ coaches

Ask me again in a month or so. Right now my recency bias is flaring big time.

Objectively, the Rams in 01 were the more “unstoppable” team by that years standards. But even in that game the D wore down by the end and gave up 14 in the 4th.

18 Rams were great but not record breaking anymore. BUT, our D was all over them start to finish. It wasn’t even bend don’t break for the vast majority of the game. They basically did nothing.

So I agree, it’s a tougher call than you’d first think.

The defense scored in that one so it makes it slightly more impressive in my opinion. But I think this was the best performance. I’m just more impressed by the other one
