Could he have made a difference on third down?
 
Don't ask me why, but BB seems to shy away from playing rookies in big games if he can avoid it (e.g., in SB46, Vereen was inactive and Ridley didn't get a snap; moreover, Edelman didn't play a single snap on defense).

Gotta think they thought he'd have a problem reading the RPO.

By all accounts they really liked the kid.
 
Harrison was the better option to set the edge. His 6 snaps probably all came on 3rd and long.
 
I thought he was cleared through the concussion protocol at he same time as Gronk. I don't remember where I read that.

Perhaps he wasn't completely healthy or got dinged again. Incidentally, that makes two concussions this season.
