DeAndre Hopkins Back in the Mix?

The Pats looking at WR tells me that they are ready to move on from DA yes even though he's been clutch in the Playoffs and on ST's DA regular season numbers are Paltry to say the least that won't cut it with his contract even on a restructure.

Pats are heavy on WRs right now...looked at Jackson as well..they want a big one it seems

I don't disagree. Maybe he final said enough with the pay cuts, or maybe they know he just doesn't have much tread on the tires. I feel I would hate to lose Dola, but the position could use an upgrade like Hopkins or Cooks.

I still don't know why romo hasn't been traded. The cowboys won't get anything more than a 3rd rounder.
Probably will get nothing because his exhorbitant contract goes with him in a trade and you start fresh as a FA

Frankly amendola is a spare part who's role can be replaced easily.

People aren't going to like this but I think IF the WR rumors are for real that it's a sign Edelman won't be back after 2017. He is going to want #1 money and it looks like they are finding a younger guy to give it to.

Hmmmm JE would be 31 at that point. A guy who relies on his quickness. He has been an integral part of this team for the last few years. I can see a WW parallel a bit I suppose. I can see him understanding the market and his worth at that point and accepting "decent" money to be a cog in this wheel.

Cant see JE (of all people) bolting for money to a team which may not win when he can stay with TB and not take a pounding. Could it happen? Sure I guess,

Hyppthetical what if its Jimmy next year and not Tom?

You are right about Dola. And you may also be right about Jules. I'll hold my judgement for now. But I'm leading very heavily toward your line of thinking.

This won't happen. You don't trade for a QB just to give him no weapons and set him up to fail. If anything they would trade a defensive player.

Because he's not as good as Hopkins. Too inconsistent, he'll disappear for games at a time. Also gets paid more and pushing 30.

Not gonna click the disagree button on you here, but AJ Green had basically the same stats as Hopkins last year, and Green's last game was a few days before Thanksgiving.

I get that we'll blame the Brockening for Hopkins poor 2016 stats, but I don't see why that takes the luster off AJ Green. By that same argument, Julio Jones wouldn't get the same credit because he plays with Matt Ryan.

Couldn't agree more.
That leaves Hogan, and mitchell.
Makes perfect sense to go get the new #1 wr a year early to adjust to the system, and evaluate.

I don't believe, the Texans are not a 4-12 team rebuilding, they are making the playoffs and although I don't have faith they could even make the AFCCG under the current structure, they are playing to win and Hopkins is one of their most talented players.

About BB looking for a #1 receiver, if all the rumors have basis, it points out that BB decided it's time to start rebuilding the offense. The OL is kinda set, there's not any urgent need, they will pick a guy in the draft this year probably and keep working on strengthening the line, but there's a lot of question marks in the receiving corps. Edelman, Dola, Gronk, Lewis, White (contract expiring, big SB performance, will be attractive on FA next year) the foundation of this offense all question marks. Mitchell and Hogan seems to be the only pieces set for the next 3 years.

Hopkins is 6'1 215
Cooks is 5'10 189

Hopkins had 1500 yards with Hoyer/Mallet/Yates/Weeden throwing to him

I would rather have Hopkins.
A convincing post: what a dreary quartet of qb's!

Is there someone around who honestly think that there is any serious chance for the Texans to be so stupid ? But sure go dream about it for a few days..

If I'm the Texans, and I know my offense is set up minus a quarterback and my defense is very good, I'm determined to outbid Denver for Romo. That's my move, and it doesn't require giving up my best offensive player. I don't think Bouye was anything special, so I wouldn't consider CB a top priority.

Houston with a healthy Romo might be even scarier than Denver with Romo.
Think about this... I normally might have been more inclined to agree with you, but his history is on the table. Naturally the argument here would most likely be that Jimmy G only finished 1.5 games, but he's also younger, has more upside, would demand less money and they'd tailor the offense to something similar to what is played in NE... Jimmy knows it already and has proven he can run it. So while it would appear they'd be giving up more in a trade, is that really true in reality? I'm not so sure given what I listed. I think the smart play for them is Jimmy, regardless of the compensation.

I'd just rather have Hopkins, but that's not a slight against Green.

im very weary of giving up big money or picks for a WR that hasnt proven they can learn our system

theres just too much history there of great WRs not being able to do this
Hey, ALP. I'd agree except Hopkins is worlds better than those guys who came and failed and he has worked with Billy O., who I can't imagine didn't infuse some of what NE runs into the HOU offense. He already would have a leg up right there.

Just the fact that he is 4 years younger, has played for BOB for 3 years and his cap hit is 50% less this year makes it a complete no-brainer.
