Day 1 FA - Will YOU Be Able to Keep It in Perspective?

Upon reflection you are right, but with an amendment. Kontra is most level headed poster of those who are constantly complaining and 2nd guessing everything the franchise does, and I eagerly away his next post that reflects even a moderately optimistic POV, or is happy with any move the Pats make.

That being said, I think Kontra is an important contributor to the discussion here. I don't always agree with the decisions that are made, and it would be pretty dull if everybody did. Like you said Kontra is probably among the best of those chronic second guessers

Its when I go nuts when BB drafts 2 RB's and a QB over 3 rounds, I eventually come back to earth and realize that BB et al are making decisions with INFINITELY more information than the rest of have, plus a few decades more of general football experience in making those decisions.

That's what aggravates me some times when I read posts from the chronic second guessers, its a combination of either the pure arrogance of their positions or the lack of humbleness in recognition of the knowledge gap that exists between them and us.

I know I should be more tolerant and understanding, and most of the time I am. But I'm human....and old ( ), and sometimes I too show some of those same traits of arrogance and a lack of humbleness in my opinions.

Yeah, others might buy this passive aggressive crap but I see right through it. Since I'm the "best of the second guessers", let me second guess your post by taking a stroll down Memory Ln and through my post record...

Not sure if people have missed this in their hysteria, but there have been reports out of multiple outlets stating that the Pats and Edelman will continue to negotiate. There's also reports out of multiple outlets of potential interest from the Ravens. Now that isn't good.

Either way, Edelman can be replaced. He's not in Welker's league as a receiver and there are other viable options out there. Now, whether or not the team targets them is another story...

I noted in that thread that it's hard for me to fault either side. Pats offered more than I thought they would and did it right (with escalators and incentives). Edelman wants to get paid and careers are short in this league. Edelman leaving, if that happens, won't make or break the offense. He can be replaced. Talib, on the other hand, is a bit harder to replaced. They need to take care of business with him.

Hard to fault either side, if true.

From the team's perspective, that is a better contract than I was anticipating they would offer. And they did it right loading it with incentives that would increase Edelman's payday if he can stay on the field. The guy played one full season injury-free and benefitted largely from there not being another receiver on the roster with experience, either in the system or with Brady.

From Edelman's side, life in this league is short and he wants to get paid. Another team might be willing to pay more than the Pats have and he wants to explore his options as a former seventh rounder. I say go for it.

The loss of Edelman is not that big of a deal, if he goes. They simply need to be able to move on and replace him. Nicks, Sanders, Tate... all viable options. Jason Avant, however, is not.

You'd have to go all the way back to yesterday starting at 3:00 PM EST to find where I said something positive from the team perspective. As for the second guessing part? I haven't second guessed much. Most of the things that I've railed on the front office for are also things that I called before happening. Now go back to my post where I pointed out holes and needs, go over each hole and each need and tell me where I'm wrong. That's right. You can't. That's why you've attacked me (and not even directly at that... you've passive aggressively attacked me in responses to Ivan) instead of my point. That's usually the first sign that you have nothing of substance to offer in a debate. Now if you have anything else you want to say to me, say it over PM. Normally I would expect a mod to warn a poster about derailing a thread over some personal internet vendetta but the mod, instead, LIKED the post.

Belichick was playing computer games for 4 days
while the other GMs were looking for new players.

Looks like Lombardi is having a bad first day on the job. Hopefully it gets better tomorrow.

Time for a bump.

Revis signed, upgrading the loss of Talib.

Browner signed.

Edelman signed.

Not a bad week, from my perspective.
