Darrelle Revis Rumors and Speculation

Bet he's just saying that to try convince people/himself that he doesn't have a chronic hip injury.

LOL, who cares. Dude didn't play. What difference does it make what kept him out?

Revis was never ours...talib, edelman, welker were. Big difference. Plus he is familiar with them

I never said he was. The point is that he's within our grasp. He's there for the taking if they offer him the right contract.

New England's offense was a total clunker last year

Ya because #3 in points and #7 in yards is a total clunker.

It was a down year but I wouldn't say it was a clunker given the circumstances.

Reason I believe we are actually pursuing Revis heavily: If we weren't interested in him at all, then what the heck are we doing with our nearly 18 million in cap space?

WalterFootball.com: 2014 NFL Free Agent Tracker - Safeties

Almost all the top & mid level safeties are gone. Only Clemons/DeCoud really offer a decent upgrade over Gregory.

WalterFootball.com: 2014 NFL Free Agent Tracker - Cornerbacks

The top tier CBs are all gone. All we have left is 2nd tier CBs. (DRC, A. Cromartie, Browner)

WalterFootball.com: 2014 NFL Free Agent Tracker - Defensive Tackles

There really are only two good DTs left in Melton/Hatcher.

Wouldn't it seem odd to blow chances to upgrade our weakest positions on D? #1 CB, #2 S, DT

People will jump off of bridges if the pats don't get revis...will be worse then the talib to denver signing

If we sign Revis the last 24 hours can be summed up as follows:

Unless those numbers being thrown around earlier in one of the threads about him being offered 4 years/$40 million by the Pats are true. If so, then it makes you wonder.

To be fair, it is all about the guarantees and the difference between 40 and 50+ is pretty sizable.

Will this prompt you again to not watch a single game next year?

Will this prompt you to look up the definitions of "hyperbole" and "frustration"?

We have other needs and have to have enough $ for the rookie draft class. This is an organization that is averse to big risks. They just don't like paying anyone beyond a certain amount of what the team feels he's worth.

Not if you were getting ready to make a splash on the other side of the ball.

Not if you were getting ready to make a splash on the other side of the ball.

Who on offense is available you would consider a splash move?

New England's offense was a total clunker last year, but I feel somewhat confident that the Patriots can build and reinforce that unit through the draft and improve as players get more experience.

You do know our offense finished 7th in yards and 3rd in points scored last season, right? That's with all the rookie WRs and their drops, the fumbles from Ridley, without a healthy Gronk for more than half the season, and it's a total clunker?

Unless they'd move up to get Darqueze Dennard or Gilbert, it's going to be yet another learning curve season from a young rookie trying to learn the system in a pretty high pressure setting.

We don't really have a big enough sample size to properly judge Logan Ryan, who seemed promising for a rookie judged by normal standards, but I don't know if we can honestly feel confident about him starting opposite of Dennard (who sometimes has his own problems, injuries, and concerns). Add in Kyle Arrington, who'd almost certainly be seeing time on the outside again at some point for one reason or another, and it's a bunch of unknowns at a position of major importance.

Is this your Jimmy Graham theory again? (Edit: I saw that it is)

Not looking like there are too many "big splashes" remaining on offense at the moment.

Oh i know. Revis likes $$..and they have lots and interest is mutual. You think talib going to denver was bad? Imagine if mevis goes back to the jets

Very easy to imagine. Quite realistic, actually.

Most of it was probably earmarked for Talib and Edelman.

Our offensive weapons are fine. Gronk will be back, we have good RB's even if we don't get Blount back, last years rookies should take a step forward, and it's a good year to draft. More worried about our offensive line.

We need defense, defense, defense.

True. I guess a "splash" offense signing would include one of the 3 centers (Mack, Smith, Puente) or Nicks.
