Darrelle Revis just got destroyed

Does he have a big dead money hit? I would assume so

Yeah, he's scheduled to have a $15.3M cap hit next year. If cut, $7M would be dead money, $8.3M savings.

Charles Woodson played CB at a high level for the Packers until he was 34-35. Similar to last year the Jets are just mis-using him. They need to realise that this isn't 2009 anymore. You don't put Revis one-on-one on receivers of AJ Green's calibre the entire game. Either you assign him to cover the number 2 receiver by himself the entire game or give him safety help. Of course he can still cover some number 1 receivers by himself, but then it needs to be those type of receivers that Revis can blanket using his technique alone.

I would still take him back in a second for cheap money if they cut him.

Using Revis to replace Logan Ryan? Yeah, would do that in a heartbeat. But I don't think they'll cut him that early.

He's 31, so he should be expected to lose a step. It just shows how idiotic the Jets were/are to give him that contract.

That contract was hilarious the day it was printed. It was pretty clear that they opened negotiations by handing him a blank check and crooning "pleeeease!"

Great player, future hall-of-famer, and perhaps the greatest contract milker the league has ever seen.

From what I saw on one of the halftime highlight shows, it looked like Revis came over after another DB lost Green - and since he was closest at the goal line the initial reaction was that Revis got beat. Could be wrong and I'd have to re-watch, but regardless
It was definitely not that. Revis had man in green and got toasted.

I disagree. It think it was a very good move for the Jets. They won the off-season Super Bowl again that year.

I thought the Bills won the offseason in 2015.

I already crowned their ass. You can't just go and give it to the Jests.

He was depending on Safety help on that bomb throwin his S under bus. Get used to it jests fans, but one thing MEvis won't need help in is cashing his checks compliments of Tamperin'Woody.

Revis is a really smart businessman, going to the Jets not only meant getting 17 million a year but he only has to play 16 games for it. In New England he's looking at 18-19 games at a minimum.

Do the math people.

Fricking genius.

I wonder if that ridiculous contract would've been offered by the jets to Revis if he had played for any team other than the Patriots in 2014

Sometimes I think that our weaker sister to the south loses their minds a little when trying to outdo the Pats

The Bills Tierod Taylor or EJ Brandy Manuel will save Revis on Thursday.

Sammy Watkins is a beast too but he cant throw the ball and catch it.

The jets forums are dumping on revis so hard.

It's amazing

What's sad in retrospect is the huge fine and loss of draft picks the Jets incurred from the league for tampering when they signed him.
Oh, wait...

I was going to post something similar.

Regardless of whether Revis is playing up to his contract or not, we shouldn't let it be forgotten what a travesty the lack of punishment for the Rats' tampering was, and is a clear example of the unequal justice the NFL* uses to try to manipulate on the field success.

Better 1 year too soon than 1 year too late.

Winning the bidding war that the Pats had pretty much elected not to participate in is the most meaningful Jets 'win' in about 5 years.

My recollection is that we were in it up to $14M/year and presumably fewer years and thus less total dollars. It made sense for us because we were and are a championship caliber team and overpaying for a year or two of high end play would have been fine. It made no sense for the Jets, they just did it because they needed to make a splash on the back pages of the NY papers. Revis and his agents fleeced them good, and now we see what kind of splash he's making on the back of the NY papers ( How A.J. Green made a mockery of Revis Island | New York Post )...
